Based on me camping the Keren house for a week straight, my estimate is that the drop rate for Trando Barrels is 1 in 1000. I know that sounds low, but there's a lot of Trandoshons at the Keren house, and they respawn pretty fast,so if you bring a buddy or two with, you can kill a lot of them pretty quickly.

The boss in the avitar are dropping the barrels, have yet to loot any off anything else.Drop rate isnt that bad either gotten 8 barrels last 3 times up
