well any kind of directoin then? south/north/west/east of stronghold, etc, etc.

I usually find at least one Elder spawn if I start at stronghold and head towards the IMP Prison

I do not believe that wild spawn elders drop AAs 30% of the time.

Most that are dropping are either Food experimentation, rifle mods and two handed mods. Weird that it only seems to be those 3 that are dropping the most.

On a second note, cry more to the original poster, crystals do NOT drop 4/10 times, and AA's do NOT drop 3/10. That would mean minimum, 7/10 Elders drop. i kill liked 15-20 in the past two days, 0 AA's, 2 Crystals, some okay fire LVA's.

I'm actually starting to believe it is COMPLETELY random, i've looted 9 premiums out of 11 elders that i've killed and 2 decent pikes, and I said it seemed like AA's drop 2/10 not 3.

Ive killed at least 500 elders in my days.
NEVER have I looted a AA or CA from one.
My most memorable loots of Elders :
6 portion of heavy duty leather
a cargo pocket
12 heavy duty clasps
about 20 standard NS lances
1 exceptional NS lance with 15-233 dmg & STANDARD Dot
I have 2 guildmates that hunt elders almost every day..
There luck is actually WORSE than mine even.
You have NO CLUE how much this frustaates me sometimes. (Im lucky i still have hair)
