Thread: New SEA Proposal: Let's give the Loot AFK'ers the BOOT

I found a person bragging on the Forums yesterday about being one of those AFK campers in the caves looting all the SEA's and I have not been able to stop thinking about how to find a resolution for these people who IMO, ruin the game for the rest of us honest people that know exploitation is not allowed in SWG.

Before I propose my solution to this situation, I'd like to give my opinion of how SEA's should be dropped. Personally, I believe there needs to be a mix between pure luck and continuity. Pure luck would be killing a group of regular old NPC's, whether they are level 20, 109, or 200+. These NPC's can be anywhere on any planet at any time. SEA's should also be in consistent or static locations.

As for random drops, we already have this, therefore, nothing really needs to change here. The change we need is in the static areas. I believe all static NPC's that give off SEA's must be in a closed area such as a room or cave. My reasoning for this: control. Just like the Corvette missions, SWG can control how long someone will be up there. If you do not leave in the time permitted, you die. The same should be held for the Aakuan's, DJM's, DJK's, and others that we know consistently give off SEA's. The time limit should be based on what is inside. Example, Aakuan's are easy to kill. Any single person (level 80) can clean out the cave in less than an hour, so an hour would be the time limit. If you're not level 80, bring a friend or two. Elite NPC's such as the DJM's can have a 2 hour timer on them due to their difficulty and need for a group (gives everyone a chance at some loot). And finally, once you leave the cave or room, you cannot return for 24 hours. Due to the time limits, SWG would have to bump up the drops as well to make sure the time spent wasn't for nothing.

Optional: Additional control that I can see where there would be some resistance in agreeing to, but it would add some additional excitement to the game: if you don't leave the room or cave before the time is up, you lose everything you looted during that session.

Why, you may ask, am I putting such high restrictions on these loots? Well, I believe everyone should have a chance at an SEA. These AFK'ers are taking away a great aspect of the game that everyone should have the opportunity to experience. This needs to stop. We need to take that "I win" button away from them and spread the love around to the rest of us non-exploiters.

So please, tell me what you think! Add your opinions of what should be done or just flame away. If you do flame, btw, we already know who you are (AFK'er) and I don't care what you say...

Here's an easy way for the devs to fix it... remove the ability to have a macro or command trigger a toolbar button. No more looping macros.

No decay + uber loot = /spit on crafters

Fix the economy and give crafters their $$$ worth... give us real revamp.

Remember... to Cancel you have to go to Register Expansion in the Launchpad.

recursive macroing is supposed to have been gone a long time ago

but i think thats an inelegant solution, theres reasons to legitimately use recursive macros (like I use one to /targ star ravager;/tar self) so that when I'm waiting for a vette spawn,i'll get a beep-beep repeating when it comes in

I like the idea if timedcamps. If you're ATK, you can always run back down. I dont like the idea of stripping your loot if you dont make it out in time, though.

I think the best solution is simply to reduce the number of commands that will clear you from AFK status to the arrow keys. You dont use the arrow keys (or mouse) to move, your AFK timer keeps clicking. Maybe make an exception for entertainers and add dancing and playing to AFK-clearing, they're the only players that have a legitimate reason not to move But if a campbot cant keep itself from going AFK, they'll get logged off in 30 minutes anyway.

You could have it so that if you get logged off in a dungeon, you get sent back to the top of the dungeon upon your next login. That would help with people who camp spots like the borgle caves and nyax (or at least the way they used to) as well, and make sure they dont just use a login script to go back to AFK camping.

you mean remove the /target command? You couldnt keep people from using any / command in a macro.....and /targ has a lot of legitimate uses

how about we all line them up against a wall and shoot them. no just kidding, but yes those afk looters really suck and they need to go away. only solution i have is if u see a afk jedi there looting. take his name down and go to the busiest city u know of and spam and let all the bounty hunters know of the person. that way the jedi gets taken out and maybe after awhile some of these people will start to clear out

I like these ideas. Especially the execution wall.

If we can only get a Dev in here to listen. Tiggs? TH? You out there?

Here's an idea that i belive will solve the AFKer problem. AFK should be all but banned from all loot drop areas. If your charachter goes AFK, for even a second, you should get booted from the game. No excemptions.

It will make people thing twice about setting your macro in motion, and walking away fromt the keyboard.

I've thought about this, but it would affect pretty much every profession, especially our crafters. They have a lot of clicking to do.

Yes... I mastered Architect pre-Gungan statues, tailor and shipwright (though shipwright is really pretty easy) without recursive macros. I had to hit the button to trigger the macro each time... it may not be quite as fast, but then again crafting just takes a little lag to throw the timing off.

What Caidoz proposes with the time restrictions willprobably fix annoying campers.

For once I'd like to visit Nyax, kill him and go. Without seeing about 3-5 other ppl, the same ppl, sitting there day in day out.
