The Development Team is looking for a volunteer correspondent for the Image Designer Profession. Participation is completely voluntary and you can stop helping out at any time. We’re just looking for someone who can help us sort through the various issues for this profession.
If this is something you are interested in, please write a short paragraph on why you think you would be a good candidate and email it to [email protected]. Please put Image Designer in the Subject Line and include your SWG handle in the message. By submitting this email to us, you agree to allow us to contact you in connection with Star Wars Galaxies and agree that all correspondence with and material submitted to SOE will be the exclusive property of SOE and SOE may use such materials without limitation and in its sole discretion.
After we have reviewed the submissions, we will pick one person to be our correspondent. We will set them up with a special community title here on the forums and ask them to help highlight for us the relevant issues relating to this profession.
Don’t get too attached to the title though; In the interest of well-rounded feedback, once a month we may select a new correspondent. Please do not take that personally, we just want to be fair and give other people an opportunity.
We will still continue to monitor the forums and read as many threads as we can. The correspondent is just to help us focus on the top issues of the profession.
First of all, I'd like to apologize for not posting sooner. I've had family visiting for a few days, and some of them areusingourrec room as a bedroom. I checked my email for the first time in a while last night and found a request to contact TH regarding the ID correspondent position, apparentlyhehad had me in mind for when the position opened up. I had noidea he had made it happen untilI logged ontothe forums some minutes later andfound pm's saying things like "Yay yay yay!" and "Congrats!".
Seeing that nothing had been announced on the forum, I emailed Thunderheart asking if he could please post something official, but I'm guessing he's probably off doing frantic lastminuteChristmas shopping like everyone else. I did not want to leave anyone hanging, so I decided to post this morning, and honestly this post has taken me a long time to craft. There is no way to get around the fact that this is awkward foreveryone involved. n'Jessi can attest that I've told her more than once she would make an excellent correspondent and I hope sheis given the opportunityone day.
I have always strived to do what I could to improve my favorite profession, and am excited about being entrusted with the tools to do so more efficiently.Iviewthe correspondent's main role as that of being the community'svoice, andIlook forward tous chewing overour professions issues and wishes together.I haven't been granted any sticky or editing abilities yet, though I do have access to the correspondent forums and have begunreading up on what's been discussed about Image Design. While I will be checking the forums every day or two to be sure I'm not skimping on any vital correspondent duties, I hope everyone will be understanding of my inability to fully launch into the position until after the holidays.
I humbly ask for your support and help as I work to represent our community.
I did not want to post until Kwee or TH or someone official did.... Time to just lay everything out in the open.
Let me just say that I have always supported Kwee as the Image Designer Correspondent. She was my vote to begin with, and although I'm unhappy with the wayI have beentreated in this matter (and we all know by whom), I'm not unhappy with the result. I fully support Kwee as correspondent. She was my choice, and she was yours. There is no secret catfight behind the scenes.
Now, I'm sure you all want to know a little behind-the-scenes, so here it it. I'm not correspondent, I don't have to be diplomatic (uh oh, gloves are off!)
Rilawyn first approached me about a month ago and asked me to be correspondent, because I had not "participated in the mud-sliging and personal attacks" (which I totally had, but just in lawyer-speak). I noncommittally answered her but stated that Kwee was the community's choice in the matter.
Then I cut, pasted, and PM'ed Kwee. Basically this was a time when everyone was dissatisfied with Rilawyn's work, so the question was: should I hold out for what the community wants (i.e. Kwee as correspondent), or should I take the position because we wanted new representation, and otherwise the current correspondent might never step down. Kwee generously told me that I would be a good correspondent, and it would be best to take the position.
I had had no desire to be correspondent before this point. I quickly sent a correspondent application to Sony, because I knew that the devs, not the current correspondent, made the choice.
My hands were tied, however, by exams. Imagine the uproar of a seemingly-absentee correspondent being replaced by one who said "I'll be absentee for the next month." Rilawyn, also, said she had unfinished business - and indeed she did finish up her term well. When I sent her a message that I was ready after exams, I was not sure she would want to give up the position anymore.
The entire time this was happening, I never really expected to become correspondent. Promises behind the scenes mean nothing until it's in print. The entire time I was doubtful of Rilawyn's ability to influence the choice of successor, or even that there would be a successor. But to see it on the boards, in print, I figured it was a done deal.
Although I had no desire to be correspondent in the first place, once I apparently was, and then had it yanked away - well that smarts a little. Once it was in print for everyone to see, I told my friends. It's embarrassing now to tell them that I was played.
I'm glad that Kwee is correspondent - she has always been our "correspondent" from the beginning. It probably had to happen this way so that Rilawyn would relinquish her post in the first place, secure in the thought that she got to pick the replacement. This is best for the community, and I stand behind Kwee 100%. Now I don't have to be diplomatic and I can tell the hologrinders what I really think <cracks knuckles>.
But Rilawyn, my friend, you owe me, and the community, a huge apology.
Congrats Kwee! Ive read many of your posts and find that we agree on many of the same things. I also love how like me, you too enjoy the roleplaying involved with image design.
Sorry it went down the way it did for n'Jessi
but its great to see her holding her head high!
I think we have two very competent players in Kwee and n"Jessi and whichever was chosen, the other would have contributed without any reluctance. So instead of one being correspondent, the other is and it still creates a strong team to help out with our profession.
With that said:
Congratulations Kwee, I know you are very well qualified for the position and I have total faith that you will lead our profession forward to new and better things.
And congratulations also to n'Jessi for handling a unusual situation in agraceful manner,,
Id like to take some time that every corner of this community is important to me. Its just very hard to showthat I feel this way, on a personal level, to thousands and thousands of people in bunches of forums.
Suffice it to say that I really just want the healing of this community to begin. Lets not dwell on the past and on things that we should move passed.
Kwee was selected because of her hard work and ongoing correspondence with me. My decision was based on merit and having a long and positive history with me. I keep a list of people who are constantly active in the community and who are positive and communicative.
Lets move past all of this and heal the community and get on with the business of being Image Designers ![]()
n'Jessi, I'm sorry that you were hoodwinked.
I'm sureyou will continue to be a huge help to everyone without the subtitle underyour name. I knowyou've helped me.
Kwee, congratulations, you're definitely the best choice to be our correspondant.
Rilawyn... Oy gevault. Ashamed. You should be absolutely ashamed.
Grats Kwee!
I'm glad to see you joining our team officialy. (As opposed to just busting your tail in the background)
Yay!
Alright Ya'll. TH is willing, N'jessi's got a head on her shoulders (...otherwise it would be really really creepy, but ... ya know.) And Kwee's the one to whine at ^-~ We are gonna be stinking persistant so we are gonna get the baldness issue fixed (so those poor Calamari can stop having hair.) and .... you know.... stuff . ^-^
Let's be mature and help Kwee and TH out as much as possible.

Hmmm. I think I've discovered Santa Claus' secret identity! If I get coal again this year I know who's going to get a PM
It makes sense. After all you were already doing all the work, just without the title. It seems there is a lot of correspondant turnover right now, which might be what has TH so busy, among his usual stuff. But he made the right choice for image design.
I just have to request that you be fair to the men in your representation to the devs, instead of focusing on the women. ![]()
