This idea has come up several times before and we've pretty much decided we don't want a crafting aspect to ID or an item that lets the customer do the change themselves. We do agree that we need something akin to registration on the planetary map though, or some other way to let people know we're there. You can check the server listing of ID's stickied up top and get a few names for your server, and I am 100% certain if you go to one of those listed there you will get exactly what you want and be completely satisfied.

IDing is not like most other professions here, where you only use a handful of the schematics/specials/abilities you're granted, we use them all. Experienced Designers know what looks well together, can quickly achieve the changes the client wants, and will be sure you leave with nothing less than happy about the changes.

I think your idea has merits, but I'm against allowing an item to perform my profession as well as I can. I can't think of any item in the game that actually performs the function of a profession like a makeover kit would. It might even reduce the number of Image Designers around because someone could just go to a Shop and purchase a crate of Makeover kits and twiddle around until they get what they want.

My friend who likes to change her own hair/makeup has novice entertainer just for that purpose, even if it "gimps" her template. I think if that's what someone wants to be able to do, they should have to invest skill points into it.

I for one enjoy "picky" customers more. They have always been tons of fun to work with (except one case) and I usually don't even ask for a tip because it was a blast! We really do like working with people who are image conscious of their avatar and have just some ideas of what they want. (The ones that I grumble a bit are the "can u show me every haristyle, skin color, height, and nose size there is?)

I think you may have something there as well. I wouldn't be against something that lets someone change their lipstick, eyeshadow, and hair color themselves, as these are all novice entertainer selections and don't hurt our business at all. This would lead to us having a crafting aspect, but so long as the resources for it aren't tough, I might be game for it.

An idea that is tossed around often is having craftable lipsticks and eyeshadows. Wigs are also often suggested but are not as popular as hairstyles are a frequent request for us. Lip color and eyeshadow color are infrequent requests, possibly as many of those who would like to change them often do have or get Novice Entertainer Makeup sales would be a funaddition to thebazaar,a way for us to advertise our services, and would not take much from our ID business. The majority of Image Designers are not against crafting, they are against changing the way we do things to rely solely on crafting. No ID"er wants to be forced to craft to do ID, nor do they want an item to be available to allow others to ID (except perhaps something low level like lip color).
