Im thinking of dropping master architect and using my tokken respec for Master ID. Is this a profession that has any demand since you cant migrate stats any longer? Is it fun to do?
Is thereany thing on the horizon that will make this profession sought after again?
Thanks for your opinions.

Hehe, I think you are asking the wrong folks about this. ID isn't definitly a profession for everyone. So the only way to find out if you like it or not will be to try it out.
But you are the very first player I hear of, who wants to respec TO Image Designer without knowing the profession allready.
Everyone else grinds ID to respec it into something different, since ID now is considered such an easy and fast grind. Maybe you shouldn't use the respec to get MID, since if you don't like it you might feel cheated and to have "wasted" your respec for this.

Well heres the thing. Im the guild leader for GWIS and want and need to keep this toon. I have two others, one a Jedi Knight and the other a Master Rifleman/Smuggler. So im in good shape when it comes to combat. I can keep Master Artisan, 3 lines in Merchantand novice armorsmith, novice weaponsmith and two lines in Droid engie to supply Smuggler, Bounty Hunter and Artisan needs for the guild and my steady customers.
Im tired of intensive crafting so going to other crafting professions doesnt appeal much to me and taking Danumpty (a Wookie) back to a combat toon seems redundant.
I heard a rumor that ID's will get the ability to temporarily disguise players in some way. Since they removed stat migration is there some other greater need for this profession?

I think what we're trying to say here is that you really have to *love* this kind of thing, to be successful. I'll be flat out honest about the profession. Most people aren't good at it and a lot do not do well.
1. Yes, it is "easy". However, not-so-much, to be *good*. I'm constantly fixing other's bad ID jobs because they do not have the head for colour, the patience for dealing with customers nor the "really busy followed by really slow" aspect.
2. If you don't like roleplay and interaction, this is not a profession for you.
3. The disguise thing IS just a rumour. What the community wants vs what SOE and Lucas Arts has planned, are not exactly the same. We will not be able to change race/gender nor change names. However, there has been the rumour of disguise kit for a very long time and/or working with smuggler. Honestly, I don't see any of that happening, soon, if at all.
4. One of the favourite combinations is ID/Tailor, as you can do custom "looks" for people. This is especially nice, as a lot of guilds, entertainer groups and such, would hire your services. You already know what it's like to do a business; you could still use your current resources for this.
5. Sad to say, many of the player base simply do not accept anything that isn't a "hawt female", to be an Image Designer. So, as long as you have tough skin about it, you could do well. Those of us who are successful, are due to great skill and word-of-mouth. You could maybe buddy up with another MID and see the pros and cons.
I love the profession and currently have a MID on Gorath and Kettemoor. The clientele is completely different. As much as Gorath is full of a very juvenile population, I actually am treated better in that profession than on Kettemoor. On the other hand, they haven't had a lot of successful MIDs so I think with the sheer amount of n00bs over there, they're slowly coming around.
I hope this made sense. Feel free to PM me in the forums if you have specific questions.

You are best off picking a profession that you like as it is now and not waiting for any rumors to come true. Even if true, it could take a year or more to be implemented.

Hey Danumpty, never thought I'd see you around here asking about ID!
Lemme try and answer your questions, since, being on Tarq as well, I know what you'll encounter as an ID there.
Since you've been a crafter for a very LONG time, you're obviously not without patience, and that's good. The money I make as an ID is GREAT for the work it involves, but the actual customer flow is not constant. You'll spend a LOT of time in cantinas if you actively want to pursue ID, because that's where most people go on Tarq to find one. However, if you just want to pick it up because it sounds interesting and you need a change, I say GO for it. ID is hands down the most fun profession I've ever done. However, I would agree with the others on one thing: don't use your respec token on it. ID is one of the easiest professions to master, especially if you can dual log the wook and another of your characters. This way, if you discover that you have no patience with it, or just plain don't enjoy it, you can still use the token to find something that might suit you better.
As far as what's coming for IDs- as far as I can tell, nothing. We haven't had any additions to the profession since the ID mini publish, and I'm not really holding my breath that we'll get any love anytime soon. The only changes we've had since then were CU related (removal of stat migrations and timers).
Whatever you decide, best of luck! And if you do take a stab at ID and need help or have any questions, gimme a yell on either of my girls.

Well the only other option that would help the guild is Bio-engie. And that can be brutal from a time investment standpoint. But I certainly appreciate all the comments so far about the plus and minus of ID. Thanks! It will be a tough decision. As for using my tokken for this, heck if I ever want to go back to master architect, thats an easy grind as well, given that im maxed on it now. Can anyone say Gungan head statues?

Honestly, it is NOT worth using a token on the ID grind. Save it for when you want to switch to something really horrendous to grind.

I agree, not because ID isnt worth it, but honestly with Double XP right now you could have MID in about 3 hours. It goes pretty fast, so might as well save your respec token if ID isnt everything you hoped it would be. I actually used ID to respec to Master Musician and then grinded MID again all in about two days of playing. I play my MM/MID for a break from my other characters and it is a lot of fun. It sounds like you have some other types of characters, so it could be a nice change of pace. I actually have more fun just changing my looks. I dont look for a lot of business, but I do get random customers, since I keep my Plastic Surgeon tag up (everyone calls me doc, lol), and they pay well. I imagine if I marketed myself and hustled a bit I would make some good money. I would also agree with a previous poster that a MID/Master Tailor would be a great combo. Most people are trying to match looks to clothes or vice versa, so having the ability to do both would be nice. Plus as an architect you would probably do well as a Tailor. I also find being a musician and ID that most of my customers are the entertainers in my groups, but I never charge them.

Yeah, if you are sure you are dropping Arch anyway, just go ahead and grind up ID the normal way. Then you can try it out for a while and see if you like it with out using your respec.
