Recently some drastic changes have been announced for theImage Designer profession. The draw down of it's skill points, the removal of timers and the end of stat migrations.
At first I was very upset with this seeing it as a negative change and the possible end to any further development for ID. However, I then remembered something about ID that have always bothered me. For instance, why must I train so hard to move my Lekku over my shoulder? And can women really not pick up some lipstick and apply it themselves?
It seems Image Designer has always been sort of a joke profession, not taken by many and then with the stat migration change, a burden. Now, ID is being downgraded the similar to theway politician went. With the death of ID as an independent profession, I see the possibility for something new: side professions.
Side professions can fill in the niche of great ideas that either can't be fully implemented or would never have enough content to maintain. It can be used to revive ideas like the miner from beta and can be a new home from professions such as mechanic.
Looking for that silver lining,

I don't like the idea of the lowered skill points unless it's across the board. But you are right that ID is an odd duck profession, but it's my favorite one so to me it's still a swan...
But, I would have done ID differently if I had been the one to design it. First of all it wouldn't be in the entartainer line at all, & I would have put chef in it's place instead, gotten rid of the healing tree of entertainer & replaced that with singing, which would lead to singer as an additional entertainer line profession.
ID would have had it's skills divided over artisan & doctor, with all the body & facial structure features going to the docs where the plastic surgeon title belongs, & all the cosmetic & hairstyle abilities going to the domestic tree of artisan to replace the chef ones. Then ID would become an elite profession in the artisan tree (in place of chef), & would have the added abilities to ID vendors, & craft things such as make-up kits, wigs, disquises, etc. as well as the ability to do interior & exterior decorating with additional ways to move objects or structures not available to regular players, etc.
But enough rambling... if I ever design my own MMO maybe...

I am definitely concerned about becoming a junior profession with the SP reduction but, the one thing we have going for us is that the player community's wishes for how they want to look will be answered as new additions for our profession.
