I read in another topic that someone suggested RGB for color choices (instead of the little slider that everyone loves). I think this is a GREAT idea. I think it should be available to all IDers (novice ID and up), but should get better as you progress. I think that if you made it have limits so that "true" colors couldn't be used until you were higher, then it would have a nice progression. Also, you could make it so that IDers had to make the red/green/blue dye from plants (or animals) and they would be mixed to form the colors. Just a thought.

In my experience I'm not sure how you could limit an RGB slider. I use similar sliders for graphic art, and conceptually it seems impossible to me. Do you just limit the values that each slider can reach? Like for novices they can only hit every 15 numbers or so? (Rather than having access to all 255 color integers).

Keep in mind.

For EVERY color added to SWG, the developers have to ADD that color to EACH item that the color can be applied to. Just think if they gave up more hair colors...they would have to add the color to every hairstyle available, etc.

It's not just clicking a few buttons.

In the big upcoming patch, amrorers will be able to tint the armor as they make it, much like tailors color clothing. Apparently, the number of colors they can choose from will increase as they get higher skill in experimentation. I am not sure if it is this way for tailors, since I am not one... but it seems to me that if it can be done for armor, it can be done for hair.... the adding more color selection based on skill level I mean. =)
