If it were me, I'd include the workaround in the answer to the baldness question.

6.)Do you guys get anything new for Bothans, Trandoshans, Mon Calamari, Rodians, Wookiees, or Twi'leks?
Not at this time.

A minor correction: we get nothing new for Wookiees or Mon Cal. We get 4 new lekku positions for twi'lek, we get new frill patterns for Trandos and male Rhodians, new hair styles for female Rhodians, and new hair styles for Bothans.

In response to the "I don't have time to look at a website" client I would say 1) it takes less time for anyone to look at one page of assorted hairdos than to be offered each one at a time, 2) it only wastes one person's time, not both the client's AND the ID's, and 3) after looking at the website the client may decide he doesn't want a change, thus saving everyone time, and the image designer considerable aggravation (since often if customers don't accept a change, they don't tip). But I guess I'm just mean because I usually don't go through every single hairstyle, and if someone asks me to do that and is very persistent, and refuses to alt tab out for two minutes to look at a website, I am very tempted to type /quit and go "LD".

The purpose of this thread is to answer most of the frequently asked questions associated with the Image Design skill. This thread will be reposted regularly with new submissions. Feel free to post your own submissions, as well.

I also want to thank those of you that submitted valid questions for this list, with special thanks to NJ62.

1.) What can Image Designers do?
The basic answer to this question is "everything you can do at character creation, plus new hairstyles." However, there are currently some abilities that are still missing from the Image Designer skill, that you can still do at character creation. We also hope to gain new abilities in the near future.

2.) Can Image Designers make me bald?
Currently, no. This issue is being worked on by the developers, but there is no ETA.

3.) What part do Image Designers play in the Galactic Civil War (GCW)?
Image Designers do not have any specific role in the GCW. Contrary to popular belief, we can not remove TEFs. TEFs were introduced into the game to prevent grief-play, so it is very unlikely that Image Designers will ever be able to remove a TEF.

4.) Can Image Designers change my name?
No.

5.) How can I do image design on myself?
There are many ways to do this. But the most common is to make sure you have nothing targetted, and just type "/im" or "/imagedesign".You can also hit Ctrl + 1 to target yourself, and then use the button that brings up your radial menu (~ by default).

6.)Do you guys get anything new for Bothans, Trandoshans, Mon Calamari, Rodians, Wookiees, or Twi'leks?
Not at this time.

7.) What is a good image design macro?
For tips on how to gain or grindimage design skill, check out the fansites listed in our Image Designer Fansites thread.

8.) Can you give my human or twi'lek a tattoo?
At this time, the only species that can have tattoos, are zabraks. Zabraks can only have tattoos on their faces. Twi'leks and Mon Calamari have their respective markings, but no tattoos. Thereis no such thingas body tattoos at this time.

9.) What is an acceptable tip for Image Design?
This really depends on you, and the Image Designer. Some Image Designers have set prices for their services. Others merely accept whatever you are willing to tip them.

10.) Can you give mea brighthair color?
At this time, Image Designers are limited only to natural hair colors. We hope to get some wild and wacky colors in the near future, such as blood red, neon green, electric blue, and shocking orange, but there is no ETA on that.

11.) Yesterday I saw a twi'lek with human hair. Can you give my trandoshan some hair?
Getting hairstyles (or markings) meant for other species,is an exploit. It is strongly advised that you not participate in using this exploit, or accept a design created with this exploit. Using these forums to solicit Image Designers that use this exploit, is also not recommended.

12.) Why should I pay the Image Designer for their services? They don't use resources.
Why pay for the water you get from your faucet when you can go to a nearby lake with a filter and get it yourself? With many other trade professions in this game, you are paying for an item. With Image Design, you are paying fora service.

13.) Can you make me taller ormore busty than I made myself at character creation?
If you maxed out your height or torso at character creation, it can not be increased any further. All Image Design changes are limited by your species. A bothan will never be as tall as a wookie, and a wookie can never be shorter than a human. And torso size can never be increased beyond character creation limitations.

14.) Can I preview all these hairdos to see if I like one before bothering my friendly local image designer?
Yes. please check our fansite thread stickied at the top of this forum.

15.) I don't have time to visit a website. Can I see the styles in the game before I decide?
This depends on your Image Designer. Some of them aren't willing to sit down with you and go through each and every hair style. But many of them will. Ask the image designer that is working with you if he or she will show you all of the styles.

Once the image designer has shown you a style, you will get a "preview" dialogue box. This will allow you to view yourself with the change, and without the change. Once you have decided which style you prefer, you can either accept the change or decline the change. The change will not take affect until you accept it.

16.) Can I have nail polish?
No one has any fingernails or toenails in SWG.

17.) If an image designer changes me, can he or she change it back if I don’t like it?
Yes, what an image designer can do, an image designer can undo, with the exception of hair. Lower level image designers do not have access to all of the elite hairstyles. Therefore, make sure to ask your image designer about this issue before accepting any hair changes.

18.) Is there an “undo” button for image design changes?
Unfortunately no. If you want to be changed “back” you will have to work with your image designer to put each feature back individually.

19.) How does image design xp work?
The image design profession works in that the image designer gains experience by having customers accept proposed changes. You must be in the same group as the image designer for the image designer to be able to “propose changes”.

20.) What kind of interface do image designers use?
Most image design commands work off a slider (i.e. weight) or palette (i.e. eye color). The image designer, as he or she moves the slider, sees the changes on the client’s avatar, as it would appear if the change were permanently accepted.

21.) Can someone practice image design on me without changing anything?
Yes.

22.) Should I accept every change, even if I don’t like it?
If the image designer is a master, this is not necessary. But if he or she is still working on the skill, then this might be a good idea. But be sure that the image designer can change everything back, before you accept the changes.

23.) Can an image designer remove this goofy smile from my face?
There are one of two issues causing that smile. The first one could be your "mood". To see all available moods, hit Ctrl + A and select the "mood" tab. You can get rid of your mood and go back to normal by typing "/mood none".

The other issue that causes this appearance is watching a dancer or listening to music in a cantina. To "fix" this, simply stop watching or listening, and leave the cantina.

24.) Why won't any image designers come to me to make changes?
Image Designers often have a very busy schedule. Contrary to popular belief, we are still a highly-desired profession. Once we start getting new abilities, the popularity of our profession will increase even more. Many image designers have been known to have 4 or 5 customers waiting for them at once. It is much more efficient and less time-consuming on both ends, to have all of the customers come to the image designer for their changes.

Another big one I get is "Are changes made by an image designer permanent?" A valid question, and one I receive a lot.

Also: "Can I have a tattoo?" This is BY FAR the number one thing I get asked by ALL races. And I really hope this something they address soon.

I would also include the bald workaround. Or at least mention that there IS one, if not explain it in detail.

PLEASE READ IF YOU ARE GRINDING IMAGE DESIGN XP: (reposted from MUSoprano)

Question: What is the fastest way to grind image design xp?

Answer: There are macros available that you can use that can get you through image design fairly quickly, but we ask that you please take some time to learn about how the profession works before you use one. An ID macro might look something like this:

/image *target*;/imagedesignSetValue freckles 0

That is just a basic, non-looping macro using the freckles modifier as an example. You can use anything you like in that command as long you have the right text for it.

Question: What tree should I grind through first?

Answer: This depends on a couple of things:Whether you want more experience very quickly, or whether you want to cater to potential customers' needs. I'm sure all image designers ground through the skill using a different modification. For example, I ground through using freckles, which comes with basic image design 4. If you are going for more xp per change, try the body tree first, they give you much more xp than, say, hair color. But if you want to choose something that your customers will ask for a lot, go with the hairstyles tree first, and then markings second, because those two trees can completely change a customer's look without changing any of their features.

Question: Is there a macro to auto-accept an offered change?

Answer: NO, there is simply no way to do this. Anyone you use as a "guinea pig" will have to click accept a whole lot.

Question: I've heard of people grinding through the entire profession in three hours. How can I do that?

Answer: While grinding through image design does not take an overly long time, doing it THIS fast is probably connected with a known exploit that involves offering a certain change that takes no mind pool. We will not explain how to use it and we do not recommend trying to find out for yourself, because you can be banned for this.

Question: I keep getting customers asking for non-race changes, like twi'leks asking for hair and trandoshans asking for rodian frills. Can I do this?

Answer: again, this is connected to another exploit, and we highly recommend you NOT use them, especially since there is no definite way to change the person back.

Question: Is there any sort of mind-altering substance I can take to help me not run out of mind pool?

Answer: There are various food, drink and spices you can take to up your mind pool. My personal favorite is muon gold - it adds 500 to all three mind stats for 10 minutes, following by a 3 minute downtime. During that ten minutes, you can get a GOOD chunk of experience. Another thing you may want to try is using an entertainer for mind buffing. Ask a musician and a dancer both to buff you, just set yourself to /watch and /listen. Musicians buff your secondary mind stats, and dancers buff your mind pool. Masters of these professions can double those pools, it can last up to 2 hours and there's no negative effects. And you can combine them with food or spice.

Thank you MUSoprano - now we can refer all same questions here.

ANOTHER FAQ IF YOU ARE GRINDING IMAGE DESIGN:

Question: My target says he "already has an outstanding image design offer" when I try to offer him a change. How can I clear this out?

Answer: This is a bug and there are varying answers on it. You may want to have your target try logging out for 20 minutes or so; in some cases it may not be able to be fixed until the server resets (usually in early morning hours).

Question: I changed my customer's hair color but I can't see the change, even though he says he can. What is wrong?

Answer: Another bug, which again requires the customer to leave the server completely. The change has taken effect and the customer can see the new color, but no one else can until the customer logs out long enough for his/her body to leave the server.

Q: Can you make me look like Darth Maul?
A: *bashes head against keyboard* No

More explained, most of the movie characters can be emulated slightly, although it may take a bit of time to get the look down.

Q: Can I have black lipstick/hair/etc.
A: Sorta kinda yes. The color fields that have black are lips, hair, eyebrows, and errm, I'm missing some . The trouble is, that black doesn't look like black on everyone's monitor/computer, and it may look like a grey to you instead. This is a problem for many professions as well unforunately .

Is the Twi'lek wig trick an exploit? I saw someone doing that, and she could take it on and off.
