Thread: TO EVERYONE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE HOTFIX- Please Read
1.) Lack of racial choices for alien races with regard to hairstyles, lekku thickness/posture, frills etc
2.) Holocroners plaguing the profession and not caring about how the exploiting affects us as a community
3.) The avatar art on all teh models is less than desirable. Lekku on twileks are too thick; zabrak, humans, twileks are all off the same template with facial features resulting in everyone eventually looking the same; Wookiees suffer from not only lack of clothing style but image design styles as well, ditto for mon cals on image design styles.
All in all, the art team should be ashamed of themselves for handing us this crud and calling it artistic continuity. There is no individuality for anyone, which is what we all crave. Some suggestions to help this along and bring back some confidence in the art development team:
1.) Make the facial features of each race distinct (more so humanoid looking races like zabrak human etc)
2.) More hair style options and lekku thickness slider bar
3.) 256 color palette for hair/skin/fur color for ALL races
4.) Body tattoos/scarring for all races
5.) Ability to make physical deformities on other races: blind eyes, hunch backs, amputated limbs etc...
Just some food for thought...Not like it will happen
Yes, everyone has 'valid reasons' for using exploits. But the fact remains that they are exploits.
Criminals have 'valid reasons' why they did what they did and feel like they should not be in jail.
Wrong is wrong, no matter how a person tries to justify it.
Yes- no one will say that Image designers DO NOT need more variations. We do! We have too little, and it takes too long to get even what character creation has. And some races are more stunted than others. However it does not make the abuse of this exploit any more right.
I personally do not think the Lekku are too thick- however being able to change the thickness would be nice, as well as width (what's his name had big flat limp ones... icky, but it was a variation.)
No matter how a person looks at it.... wrong is wrong, right is right. We do need more things to do- but it nees to come in a legal and orderly manner. If we keep breaking the rules, do you think anyone will be more willing to listen to us? Have faith, be persistant. Even support the "Similar variations" for other races (Like I've said in other posts- the clasic bob on humans can work for Rodian women, and a variation that accounts for hair thickness will work for Bothans) Not everything can cross speices, but some things can be adjusted to fit.
SOE has how many professions to take care of? Be persistant and understand that they can be slow- they'll get to everyone, but by all means, be persistant. We do need more content. HECK! Let's memorize the numbers for each hairstyle that may be able to cross s[ecies and compile a list- and how to adjust it for each species (like add horns for zabrak) just to give them some ideas.... if they are too slow to figure it out on their own, eh?
Nothing has been taken away from you.
The thing that was 'removed' was a bug that entirely broke the contract giving LucasArts creative control. We here in the ID forum have had ideas turned down by LucasArts because they felt it would break immersion. This was immersion-breaking of the worst kind, and SOE did the right thing by removing it. If they hadn't, they'd likely lose the license to use the Star Wars name. LucasArts has been VERY explicit on matters like these in the past, when gender/species changes were suggested.
The afro that people are complaining about? It's a female hairstyle. Is there any reason men shouldn't have it? Not really. And hopefully eventually we'll be able to do it eventually. But for now, it's a hairstyle intended for women. That's how the art team designed it, and you don't have the right to undermine that.
For Zabraks, there is NO SUCH THING as a Zabrak without horns. You COULD wear a wig, I suppose, but Zabraki are proud of their horns as a race, and wouldn't want to cover them. Maybe someday we'll have wig craftables. Right now, we don't. I personally don't want them, but it may happen. If that happens, power to you. But until then, a 'human wig' is violating the immersion desired by LucasArts, and SOE doesn't want to violate that.
Twi'leks with hair? Think about this for a second. About a HALF of a twi'leki's BRAIN is contained in their lekku. A twi'lek without lekku would be severely mentally retarded. Every time I see it I wonder how they're managing to put a sentence together. Also, as a race, twi'leks are ENTIRELY HAIRLESS. Their eyebrows are just markings like their lekku patterns.
Mon Calamari are fish. Fish do not have hair. I don't know how much simpler that gets.
Wookiees DO need more customization, and this forum has been strongly campaigning for more wookiee hairstyles. But the answer is not to use hair intended for other races. LucasArts wouldn't stand for that, and SOE could lose their license if they violate the wishes of LucasArts. The same goes for Bothans, Rodians, Trandoshans, et cetera.
You do NOT have the right to customization that undermines the wishes of the people who have produced this game. This is not a democracy.
Thank you, and good day.
