Thread: An idea to energize the ID profession
Nice idea,,in fact we can add it to our list of 50 plus good ideas, none of which has been implemented,,,going back about 6 months
I think this is a FANTASTIC idea! And would also add to the whole "crafting" aspect of image design that some of us would like to see implemented. I love it.
I wonder if we can get a word from a dev about this. Probably not.
Right now player cities are popular and people want things to put in their homes. Bio-engineers can make critters you can place in homes. Droid engineers can make a droid chassis you can use as "driod furniture." Architects and artisans can make many things.
What if image designers could make what is essentially a wax figurine of a player? A full copy of the player and what they are wearing that could be placed in a home and stand there, with a few body movements for realism? Like BE creatures and droid chassis, they would not do anything. They would just be for looks. But, here is how you people would benefit from them:
1. Instead of player strucures being empty, you could put these in them to populate a player structure.
2. If the player was wearing faction armor or uniforms at the time of the impression, you could have stormtroopers and whatever in your PA or city hall for a more Star Warsy feel. They would not fight. But they would make the place look more realistic.
3. If you had a med center you could have physicians standing around, or musicians and bartenders in a cantina. Again, they would just be for looks.
4. You could have museums where you could honor the founding members of your guild or city.
5. An image designor could have several in a shop to show the latest looks they can render.
6. A tailor could have them in their shop to show how clothes look when worn instead of hanging there in mid-air.
And so on. Plus, image designors would have something they can mnake and sell and increase their income.

As Image Designers we could change the subject multiple times over, making new statues each time. That would leave you with a handful of statues that may have been created from a single person but all looking entirely different. I love the idea, but I'm not sure how they would make it work and how badly would it affect lag?
I can't imagine that they'daffect lag too terribly much, as they'd merely be objects, rather than players or mounts, and there would likely only be a certain group of people this would appeal to.
I'm loving some of the ideas I've been seeing in this forum lately. Makes me wish I was creative enough to have thought of them myself! ![]()
