Thread: ID light source.

I would love to see a feature that made the target of an Image Design shine with a light so that we could see all their attributes without shadow or false colors. This light would only show the target in this way and would not shine light anywhere else. Our personal light sources are not suited for ID as they cause serious shadow problems, even standing in favorable positions from your customer. Also, the light that shines from other sources can cause someone with white hair to look blonde, etc.

Just examining them so that you can see their natural colors and shape is not enough. I do alot of facial work and I like to drop into a first person view and get close to my customers so that I can make those oh so subtle changes that can make a world of difference.

Thoughts?

Well you sorta can if you Examine your ID customer and resize the examine window. This gives you a wonderful image of the customer that you can rotate (and stop from rotating) with a mouse click and a drag. You can also click the two little arrows in this window to get rid of the bio information and just see the avatar. works great in naboo style homes and at anytime really.

The customer can do the same thing by hitting CTRL+1 and then typing /ex. This lets them target and examine themselves. A nice light source would be nice tho...

Unless I'm misusing the examine window, I can't ever seem to get enough of a closeup on the face. Good for skin color tweaks, lousy for facial tweaks.

Yep, exactly what I'm saying too, n'Jessi. The examine window just isn't good enough.

Try standing behind your client, with both of you facing the same way and your personal light source (cntrl L) on. It works very well.

"Ironically, while researching this piece a representative from Sony asked us to keep in mind that many of the players complaining "weren't playing the class right," and that the class was designed as a solo experience. Such a comment is indicative of the original Ultima Online mistake: not realizing that once an MMO is released to the public, it no longer belongs to the developers, it belongs to the people paying $14.99 a month for the service."

I do that all the time, except the client usually turns around to face me, thinking it helps, or thinks i'm looking at his butt (ok I am, shhh).

I additionally have the problem of being extremely short (Ok, yes, I know I can fix that too, shh you). So best to plop the client down in a salon chair and then kneel to get the right angle. I also have 9 torches in that room strategically placed. There's a lot of smoke.

Look, we're not newbies at this. Even if you have great lighting, standing facing the opposite way, etc. It often does not give you the prime lighting for the kind of up close work we are sometimes required. Most of the time, I find that I'm not in the most lit place and I have wished for the light source this thread is asking for. I'm not about to travel 4k to get to a better spot that still casts shadows either.
