You can make yourself unsearchable, and you can make your title not show up. Gooood.... but if you're in a crowded starport, people can examine you and see that you've mastered image design because of your badge! And if you're like me, and haven't mastered a lot recently, they're gonna assume that you haven't given it up, and proceed to ask you for something. I don't know about you guys, but when my title is off, I'm off duty...

I wish there were some sort of "badge privacy."

I'm sure the folks trying to hide their Masteries, like Bounty Hunters, by putting up novice chef would agree.

Hopefully folks will come to realise that just because you have a badge for it, doesn't mean you have those skills anymore. Then again, some people just don't think before they speak.

Just do what I did. Run out and get about3 or 4 exploration badges. That way, people won't want to sift through all the badges to find your profession. Seeing '...has been to Theed's magestic waterfall' is enough to make me close the examine window. Hehe.

This whole "profession badge" thing pisses me off. Seriously. I mean, for one thing, not everyone wants people to know what they've mastered and what they might potentially be. Image Design is a good example of this. But here's another thing: what happens when Jedi start mastering Padawan, then Knight, and finally master Jedi totally? People can just examine them, see that they have those profession badges, and harass them to no end, following them around waiting for them to use their lightsaber so they can attack. I'm all for Jedi being hunted and pursued; I am NOT all for any player being griefed. These badges could contribute to that.

1. Jedi don't get badges.

2. I have so many exploration badges, it is difficult to find what I have mastered. Noise is the key

Maybe I'm confused... but I became an Image Designer so I could give people makeovers. I wear my badge at all times with pride. When someone needs some work, I'll gladly stop and help them. That's why I took up the job in the first place. Why do so many of you want to hide it?!

For the same reason my Master Doctor frequently switchs to no title: sometimes we're 'on duty' and sometimes we're not...

I love ID. I love making people over. I love making people happy.

But...

Sometimes, I just want to play. I have other professions I want to persue and I can't set bunnies on fire on Dantooine if I get "Can u plz gvie me a afro?!?" every five minutes. Sometimes I want to play the game for myself and not for other people.

But, when my title is on, I'm 'on duty'. I will work on anyone who wishes it. Hehe.

Perhaps. But it's not difficult to:

1. Say "Sorry, I gave up ID"

or *gasp*

2. Say "NO". Or "Sorry, I am bust at the moment." or "Hey, thanks for the tell .Send me an email and I'll try to hook up with you later."

GAH! no @#$#@ edit function. I meant 'busy', not 'bust'. But you knew that. Although I suppose 'bust' could be appropriate in the right circumstances.

Meagree me also no likey! Not only because you can no longer hide your profession or how well traveled you are, but also because only 6 months into the game a lot of players have so many I never read any of them.

To me, badges are a horrible idea simply for the OOC information factor. "Wow, you look like a girl who's seen the majestic waterfalls of Theed!" Right. I don't care about Rebel/Imperial badges, I avoid getting those, so I really can be covert when I'm covert—I do care about that much OOC information about me being available to anyone who can type ~3.

The problem is if you don't have a big enough brick or can't find the right head. The devil is in the details.
