I was just now reading a book by Basil Davidson, the reknowned African historian, "The Black Man's Burden" when I thought to myself. What does it really 'mean' to have an 'image'....and that got me thinking about Image Designer, and 'that' got me thinking about Holoemotes.

Now, I know the 'rationale' for these is a little electronic chip in ones hair or on the back of the head or some similar placement....so...what if we were able to actually manufacture chips that 'did' things. Bear with me.

Now, what effects do you think of when you think of an image of something? Imposing, Cautious, perhaps Cuddly? Well....what about letting us making 'holoemotes' or attaching bonuses to certain features that would last for a little while, but then fade away?

Say perhaps, giving +10 intimidate to someone, but setting their Faction maximum with Townspeople at 2000? You see? So they would recieve a 'bonus' but have a significant drawback if they really want it. (This example would be a 'scar' or something I imagine.

Or you could give someone a holoemote that projects, temporarily the image of a specific animal, giving creature handlers a bonus to taming those creatures! (Of course a bio-engineer might have to supply the tissues!)

I'm feeling creative right now, anyone else wanna toss in some ideas and I'll continue posting after I think about this a little bit more...

Other possibilities: Camouflage and/or maskscent bonuses (to convey being non-threatening perhaps?)...a holoemote that projects a 'mirror image' of the dancer ala the Fred Astaire (sp?) where he ghost danced with himself...though, I think that would just be for fun and have no 'game effect'.

I really like the direction of this idea. Indeed, an image is not just the look of someone. It's his appearance, how he acts and maybe even what other ppl have heard of someone or maybe have not heard ... Yes, I think there is great potential in this idea
