Image Designer Archive
Thread: A Note to the SWG Community
Hello everyone! I thought I would write this informative post about how to properly treat an Image Designer when you see them or when you deal with them. I know that a lot of times Image Designers get walked upon by other players by misconceptions they have about the professions. If you would like to make and IDers life a little easier than read on!
1) Image Design is not a fluff profession. Thousands of players have had their appearance change since launched. There is a legitimate demand for changing players appearance, and this is one of the few games that allows you to do it after character creation. So please don't belittle our profession saying its less important than others.
2) Image Design is not all about being feminine. Being a male Image Designer I get treated like I'm off 'Queer Eye for the Straight Guy'. The truth is there are many ways to roleplay an Image Designer. For example my character is an agent of the Empire, sort of like a Spy who specializes in altering appearance for missions against the Rebellion. So don't be calling us names please. In any event, there is nothing different that IDs do that you didn't do in character creation.
3) Image Designing is a mentally exhausting profession. We have to guess what people like and spend larges quantities of time working on a person. Couple that with a cruddy interface andpoor lighting and some ID sessions can be absolutely exrucerating. So please be patient with us, most of us are doing the best we can.
4) Always ask your IDers prices before hand and pay them or tip well. Nothing is so much as a slap in the face than working with someone for twenty minutes to getting nothing in return. To be honest, I'd dare say that anything below 3k isn't much of a tip. Think about it. How many times will you change your appearance in the game? Isn't it worth saving up some cash so you can make some IDers day if you're only going to do it once or twice in the game?
That being said I have enjoyed working with a lot of you folks and a few of you I'd rather not see again. haha I hope this didn't come across as a rant but rather as a general guideline to make this profession a little bit happier. Thanks for reading folks!
