I feel they should have a skill which allows them to be 'unseen' {but not cloaked} by certain people.
I agree. Plus, they're building in a cloaking in groups for you anyway, so it kind of defeats the purpose of having us do it for you.

I would not want it either. I'd just not want to get spammed the hades in back by Jedi wanting to hide. It would take the same flavor of "make me invisible NOW" and them expect us to bend to their needs on a whim on their scedule.

It's a very tricky thing. I am leaning toward never having a "necessary" ability ever again after stat migration. For some reason, when something is necessary, certain rude players feel a sense of entitlement to it because it's necessary for their continued gameplay, and act in the most grossly distasteful way.

Sadly this is 100% correct

I have to agree with this also. I AM a Jedi Knight. Force Cloak serves this purpose. If you do a disguise thing in ID you have to do it for everyone.
As to the idea of the GCW, having ID's disguise people of your own faction to hide amongst the opposite faction. I DO support that idea. That would make that arena of PVP fun. I would even go as far to say as, the person who is wanting to disguise MUST be Special Forces before they even attempt this. and also give ID's an option to temporarily disguise their name or hide the name orsomething because people on the opposite side generally know whos in the oppsing faction. I also think that Imp ID's can only do Imps, Rebs can only do Rebs. Neutrals can do both sides. Regular ID work can be done on anyone like it currently is now. These are just some of the ideas and thoughts that would be fun.

I had a bit of an Idea that would involve the Image designer profession.
A Jedi wanting to become unable to be found for a short period of time, say 1 hour or so would ge to an image designer to be disguised by them.
This would have to be fairly costly for the Jedi to avoid having this mechanic abused. Perhaps something along the lines of 100K JEdi XP for an hour of disguise tome in addition to any fee the ID saw fit to charge?
Possible only allowing 1 disguise per jedi per 24 hours would be another.
Wanted to see if you guys had any ideas on this before I toss this onto the Jedi board/flamefest for ideas. I know I'm more likely to either get an idea or a polite no thank you from here.

It's a common tenor among us IDs that we wish to offer services that is wanted, not needed. The stat migrations showed us, that being needed can be a lucrative thing, but very annyoing as well.
Sure, the jedi carve for a way to lower their visibility, but I doubt that any kind of makeup and disguise would really help against the dna-enhanced scanning-methods of the Bountyhunters.

I do not EVER want ID be like that again. I can see giving temporary disguises for RP purposes, and I think the combo of ID/Smuggler working together for that, to smuggle people, is goood. However, I do not believe at all that ID should be limited by faction or be necessary for one profession only like Jedi.
On th eother hand, they ARE going to implement a jedi cloaking within groups thing and fix the cloaking that is broken. So this discussion is moot.

I was tired last night, and forgot to add "on the other hand" which is... if players no longer "need" each other, there is no player economy.
It's very hard to draw the line between a feature that promotes jerkiness, and attributing jerkiness solely to the player's own temperment. For example, /findfriend brings out the worst in customers, as they stalk me. But those are probably the same people who would be sending me tell after tell, even before /findfriend. It's sort of a chicken or the egg problem: is the feature causing people to be jerks, or is the jerkiness of people causing the normally-innocuous feature to be unpleasant?

True. We do need to be needed. All professions and folks should be able to have skills which will help them make a decent living and for us to all be able to play together. If that makes sense.
I like feeling wanted and needed, but I don't want a skill that brings out the leet-jerks.

I just had a flash to a role-reversal where the ID is the leet jerk and the customer is polite. Hilarity ensued...
