Image Designer Archive
Thread: This has got to be the easiest profession.
9:30, novice entertainer. 2:00 in the morning, master image designer.
Luckily I found a noob dancer and paid them 20k per hour to click the mouse on my macro ![]()
See, us hologrinders CAN be beneficial to the dancing community, that dancer made 80k off of me, while she danced and watched a movie and clicked the same spot
Unfortunately, many people are basing the worth of a profession on how long it takes to Master it. ID is very difficult when you get picky customers that have an impossible ideal in his/her silly heads. For example..
A customer approached me yesterday before I had dropped Master ID ( =( ) and asked for me to make to adjust his weight since he thought he looked too skinny. I did that, he thought it was great. Then he asks for me to make his arms and legs a bit fatter as well. I tell him the only way to do that would be to adjust his muscle, but that was maxed. He told me that another Master Image Designer had done it to a friend. After trying to explain to him that it was impossible unless with a muscle modification, I finally told him to just go and find that "other Master Image Designer" and ask him/her to do the same thing.
It's frustrating when people do not believe you in what you can and cannot do.
That's one thing I'm happy to not have to deal with ... for a little while, anyway! ![]()

Just like tailor it is easy to "master", but very difficult to master!
The same can be said of any profession in this game.
Unless you equate time with difficulty.
Nothing in this game is hard. All of it just takes time. Some professions take more time than others.
However, just getting the master title doesn't mean anything. I had the Master Bio-Engineer title for a while, but you know what? I really don't know the first thing about anything in the profession except a smidgen about making pets. I didn't make a single pet stim, pet vitality pack, or tissue. Just a bunch of pets. I don't feel I really mastered the profession, because for one I was only a master for like... 20 hours if that. For another, like I said, I have no idea how anything other than DNA sampling and clone production works.
Unfortunately I'll be saying the same thing about ID when I'm done. BE wasn't a holocron profession... none of the professions I've done in the past are. I did BE because on the outside it looked like fun, but was ultimately dissapointed with the profession - nothing against the profession itself, or the people who do it - I just didn't like it like I thought I would.
Image Designer is my first and probably my only holocron profession. I'm "getting it out of the way" because I would hate to think that image designer is the only thing possibly keeping me from opening my FSCS, despite the fact that I don't have any desire to unlock it... hence why I'm not avidly pursuing the FSCS.
I dont have anything bad to say about ID, either the profession itself or the people who enjoy it. Its definitely a hologrinder's dream. I've always appreciated the services that the real image designers have provided me in the past, and I wish you all the best. ![]()

How true, but the first time someone comes from three planets away to have you give them a shave and a dye job, it really makes your day!!

Easiest profession to micro master but try playing an image designer. Figuring out what a customer wants and making him/her happy is a lot tuffer then you may think.
I have master entertainer, and I can't tell you how much I appreciate all you master ID's! For the most part I get people who basically know what they want..........but the 1 in 6 who catches me at a bad time (1 min 30 before shuttle) or says "do what you think looks good" (I cringe) .......... or doesn't know what he wants (sorry, but it's usually a he) or just wants to see everything.............then gets bored with how long everything takes and runs off without tipping because he didn't get any ID done (but wasted 20 minutes of my time).............just makes me appreciate you all that much more. *smile*

I may be weird, but I love it when a client gives me free reign. Same for when they aren't sure of what they want. The creative freedom is what initially drew me to image design, and when I get a chance to really indulge in it…well, that's what keeps me in the profession. As for tips…sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. For instance, Aime beat me out in one sitting to my three yesterday (and that one wasn't the only one she did.) But on the other hand, I've had one session that beat out four she did yesterday…so I try to take it all in stride. Getting angry about it won't get me better tips—in fact, if I took it all personally I wouldn't be nearly as friendly with clients, nor would I be willing to spend as much time as it takes to get each person their perfect look…and I think that'd really hurt my reputation (such as it is, hehehe) and by extension my business and tips.
Yes, real customers are the real challenge in this profession. Although I started ID because of a Holo, I may keep it for awhile, as it's beensuprisingly interesting. If you're on Radiant, come by my bike shop / tattoo parlor! (wish there was more to the tatoos)

im going to make a point of this thread...
I want to become a jedi, and as of now, i am on Holocron #3 which was Teras Kasi...
My 2nd holo was Master Artisan, and my first was Master ID... at the time i was going for Commando and Master CH... my dreams were shattered...
the next day i started my journey into Jedi, and being ID'ing on people in the Theed Cantina. i sat thier all day and found 3 other holo go'ers on thier Jedi journey... the next night i Mastered ID, and found out i was going Master Artisan. that's when my whole attitude changed towards the game... i sat in cantina's talking to people and crafting and having a good time... by this time i dropped all of scout (execpt for exploration 4) and all of marksman leaving me with no figthing skills praying that my next holo said Master Commando... Then i got TKA... i was stuck at a point for a while not knowing wiether to drop ID or artisan... then it hit me when i was still just unarmed 4, running through cornet to the cantina, i get 3 tells within 2 minutes asking for ID's... and i gladly do them and tell my hunting group that i will meet up with them later... a half hour later, and 20K richer i went back with them on my struggle to TKM... right now im TK 0-0-1-1 and close to my next level, i have deceided my ultimate path with keeping all of ID and some of artisan just enough to get TKM... at this point in time im just hoping that i do not have to do a elite hybrid proffesion and then not being able to have Master ID anymore...
I started as a human female scout (mainly for the clothes) & quickly switched to entertainer after I died the first time. I became an Image Designer because I wanted to make a twin character & needed it to make them "true" twins since I couldn't remember the settings I used at character creation. I love this profession mainly because creating the looks of a character is one of the few things SOE did a good job on with this game, & it sooo beats having a standard issue avatar to run around in.
Mastering ID was hard at first because nobody knew about macros or buffs yet, but it did get a lot faster by the time I remastered it on a diferent server, & even faster on the 3rd thru 5th times (yes, I've mastered it at least 5 times if not more). But mastering the profession doesn't necessarily make one good at it as people have pointed out. And I would venture to say that even with the masters out there that do this as a job & notfor a holo grind, only the really good ones make seriously good money at it.
So you are correct that "This has got to be the easiest profession"...to master! But it is probably one of the hardest non-afk service jobs to make a living at, along with medic& doctor.
