Thread: Deep cleansing breath, not all is lost.

Coupla random reactions of mine that I hope people might think about and I didn't want them to get lost in multipages of response.

1) In regards to a few screams I've heard about people hologrinding ID for the patch and taking away our client base - bless them! Y'know why? Because you know the horrors of sitting down with a client who doesn't know anything about the possibilities, and talking them through a makeover? You know how that's calmed down a bit since we've all been working with the same old possibilities for the past year or so? All that will go out the window with the patch. I, for one, don't want to spend patch day as the only IDer with a line of clients waiting, while I debate with some guy:

"can u make my skin blue and red eyes?"

"No, I can't."

"y not?"

"Because if you could look like that, you'd be a Chiss. But you're a fleshy pink human. So sorry."

"u suk!"

2) As has been said elsewhere, things aren't set in stone (nor in mud, which is good for the complexion). For people who don't want IDer waits to be so long, who want the timer to be a "post-change timer" like Medics have for healing, for people who want some sort of compromise between slow Stat Migration and ID-only Stat Migration -- we already know they have code like that written. We've seen the Medic timer, we've all used the self-Stat Migration, and I can't see it being terribly difficult to change the timer code from /pause 120; to /pause 45;.

For those of you who want to rave and yell about how we're doomed, remember the Nova Troopers that were implemented for all of a single day? I don't. I blinked and missed them. Insert code, remove code, ultimately not terribly difficult.

And please please please, don't respond to this post with comments about how the Devs never get anything right and they won't care about our screaming, or any other unproductive negatives. There's enough of thosein most every forum.

I have to say that this has bothered me a bit when I think about it. Everyone is in a rush to become an ID in case they need it to unlock their jedi slot before it is too late. On patch day it is going to be a *very* common profession since people will keep it long enough to make some money. It won't be us permanent image designers who set the standards for pricing and it is our reputation which might be damaged by people who have never image designed before doing poor jobs of it or being very rude to the customers. They really should have fixed the XP problem *before* the mini-publish (by just removing /imagedesignSetValue) to let the ID population settle back down before all the new stuff. They didn't do this, however, so we will have to deal with it.

No. I have been trying to test it out on testcenter and the devs did a *lot* right in this publish! There are things that should and probably will change, but I am really looking forward to the mini-publish!

Most of the universe's problems can be solved by the application of a brick to the side of the right head.
The problem is if you don't have a big enough brick or can't find the right head. The devil is in the details.

Good point on the damaged reputation thing, Gyopi. Of course, a lot of people have already blown through ID and dropped it, and a lot of people probably didn't even read the forums to discover that there's going to be a time delay to IDing now and that they should get their grinding done ASAP. So I can hope the numbers of random IDers won't be all that heinous.
