Thread: Titles, searching, and bad business...
I'm sure everyone's probably already aware of this, but this is something I just noticed and something I think really needs to be changed. I'm posting this here rather than general SWG, because I think it affects us quite a bit.
I just recently discovered that your title determines what you show up as in a search.I'm an image designer who has mastered each skill line, but is not yet a master image designer. If I choose the title master hairstylist and then search for someone who is a master in markings modifications, I don't show up even though I am a master in markings modifications. If I then search for masters in hairstyling, I do show up. If I change my title, I only show up under the skill line that the title applies to. If I have no title, I wont show up at all.
I think this is bad for business, because if someone is looking for body customizations, chances are they're going to look for a master in body custumizations, not a master hairstylist. I think this affects even master image designers, as some people are likely selecting the line they know they need when searching rather than master image designer.
There is already a checkbox for people who want to be excluded from searches, so I don't understand why they have is setup this way.
That's all. Carry on.
They do this mainly because, say, I'm tired one night and don't want people searching me out as an Image Designer, but I want people knowing I'm a smuggler... because slicing weapons is no big deal. I change my title to Master Smuggler and people who search under 'Smuggler' will find me, but not ID.
People should always be searching under the "general" title anyway: If they want tattoos changed, they should be searching for Profession: Image Designer, not Title: Tattooist. Chances of you finding anyone by searching for a specific sub-title like that is rare, whereas searching for all Image Designers might return at least one, or more.
