Hi, just curious as to what should charge people per image design. I've heard people say its around4-5k per change and when i went to tell one of my customers they flipped out because it was too much. I've also heard people say "just let them tip you" and thats fine, but There has to be a going rate for us, otherwise how will we make our money? I mean if were gonna bust our asses gaining the tedious image desigh points, we need something good (like lots-o-moola) from getting Master, something better than just tips i hope

Quick version of my price list:

1k - hair/markings color

2k - single face change/char creation hairstyles

3k - markings pattern/fur pattern/image designer only hairstyles

4k - single body change

5k - unlimited face changes

10k - unlimited body changes

I throw makeup in for free since it is rarely requested, and noone has ever come for ONLY makeup. The vast majority of people are happy paying these prices, and many tip over and beyond that. Beginning at their third visit I knock 1k off the total. I have a little beauty salon in my home decked out with master architect furniture, with a npc vendor "Receptionist" that has prices and customizations listed on five bangles called "Read Me", "Tattooing" etc. In the middle I have three reclining chairs all in a row to igve it that beauty salon look. I have people come there for "appointments" and for the most part people love the roleplaying of it and oo and aah over the salon So they feel pampered and feel the service is worth it. I've had three people reject my services in the past couple of weeks. One told me they usually pay 1k per change, and that's a pricing plan a lot of ID'ers use. Another told me he expected me to take tips, and then sent me several tells about how I would make so much more money with tips (I explained to him it wasn't worth the times I used to get stiffed to me, it caused me stress), yet at the same time he couldn't afford the 3k for the hairstyle he wanted... A third told me my services were not worth what I was charing and that it was ludicrous that I expected her to travel to me (1000 meters away). The typical response after I quote my prices is "That sounds fair, that's fine, or expect to get more than that!". Anyway good luck in setting up your price list. I was personally going to do 1k per change but I got together with a few other image designers in my area and we ended up with the above prices It's been going well so far.

my prices are a little cheaper than Kwee's...but here goes

"hair"style with free color 1k

facial hair and color 1k

makeup 1k

facial mods 1k each

body mods 2k each

height weightskin 3k each

My prices are listed if you examine my character, under my bio. So if a customer asks me for a mod, I tell them to examine me for prices. I agree, most customers have no issues with paying for the service, and often I get tipped more than I ask for.

Personally, I have had no problems working for tips. Most people are very generous with tipping me for my service and occasionally I do get less, but it all evens out.

My sister doesn't play much so I've got her Master Image Designer to goof around with when I want to.

I was helping people last night and a guy asked me how much for a hair change. I told him 1k for hair cut & color including any facial hair you may want changed. He told me that was overpriced! I thought I was being generous! He paid it to the penny not a credit more.

Then like 10 minutes later I was with a wookiee and trandoshin that didn't know what they wanted and I had to take spice to keep up with them hehehe. Anyway I didn't even state a price and they tipped me most generously anyway.

The price list is neccessary though since that's what people ask first usually. I basically charge 1k for the lower items and 2k for the master changes. With the exception of that dork calling me overpriced I always get a generous tip on top of the quoted price.

I still haven't figured out what I want to do for pricing, and for now I'm just kind of winging it..

But in general, my prices are based partly on what I'm changing, and partly on how much work is involved. If someone comes to me and says "Give me this hairstyle in this color, and take off all my muscle" I would charge probably half the price I would charge someone who got the exact same change but wanted to get "new hair, and make my body more feminine" whom I had to go through several looks with to get to it.

Basically I see the fee as having two parts.. One is the fee for the image design service, and one is the fee for the consulting service. The second part is optional.

I'm still working from tips =). It seems to work well enough for me. Sure, I get stiffed occasionally but then it all balances. If I get multiple stiffs in a row, I might implement an on the spot pricing structure (1.5k/change is what I usually quote) just to get past the hump.

Of course, I've been known to charge a jerk tax for those who do the immediate "you don't give this for free? You don't use resources!" or "I n33d t00 l000k m34n, d00d!". That's usually a flat amount paid up front. If they pay the tax, I ignore any rudeness and try to treat them like my best customer.

I go by tips & do pretty good. Most people tip based on time spent with me & not on a per item basis. Occasionally I get tipped low, but I've also gotten tipped 20K a few times & been given a couple houses (including a medium Naboo).

Cheapest ID'ing yet (on Corbantis that is). Only 1k per each change; so 1k for all face changes, 1k for hair, 1k for body and/or 1k for markings. Plus, half price to entertainers (given I'm one and know not everyone tips us). I'm usually tipped more than what I charge and make enough money to maintain my PA hall nicely (I've got 3 months maintenance in there right now).

I was actually caught off guard the first time someone asked what I charge. Everyone since then has asked, and I always just tell them that I don't charge. Occassionally, someone wont tip me, but most of the time I still get tipped 1K or more per person.

I can understand why some people would charge per change. I have some people that want me to sit with them for hours and show them every possible change I can make. Those are usually the people that don't tip, as well. It's just the way it goes, I guess. I think a lot of people look at image designers the same way they look at the character creation system; you're just a tool by which to change their appearance. They just forget that for a lot of us, it's our only profession. I'd much rather get stiffed than refuse someone an image design they want.

My prices range from 1-5k, but unless the person is a jerk, I'm always willing to cut a deal. I also don't charge someone if they're just flat broke. All I ask is that they spread my name around a little. I figure it works out better if I can bring in three more customers by doing one for free or cheap.

Like Tummygrumbles I was kinda surprised by that first customer too.
At the time I decided since so many entertainers helped me on my road to master and since my Guild leader (Love you Kadinea) paid for 100% of my training I would not charge other people. Usually people are taken aback by this just as I was the first time I was asked what I charged.
Ive heard some people charge as much as 8k for anything - basically just having their attention.
Almost every one tips me and quite often its between the 3k-5k range. Some loyall customers tip a lot more.
Ill spend anywhere from 5-30 mins with people and what I always suggest to my guild is - when they are getting services from some one - If its a non-resource service - tip them for the time they spend - if they spend 30 mins, tip them what you would make in 30 mins or a portion of that. Its their livelyhood - make it worth it to that person to spend time doing what they are - otherwise they wont.
ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS tip Docs. This is never an question.
And if your IDer does a great job and you are happy - show them how happy you are!
