Thread: Image Designer Bugs, Issues, Fixes, and Wishes (v 1.0)
This post is for the benefit of the community, particularly newcomers who may not be aware of all of the ID bugs, and we have SO many
While I will certainly be submitting some of this info to the devs when it is requested of me, it will be in small doses and there is of course no guarantee of when and if any of it will happen. Please post any corrections or additional info on the bugs and issues section, and any fixes to the profession I may havemissed. Note I will not be adding to the wish list section in this post, except to revise it in the futureas wishing trends change and *crosses fingers* enhancements come to our profession.
BuGs aNd IsSuEs
- Hairstyle change - hair color default bug - If a new hairstyle is accepted, hair defaults to brown (humans), white (bothans), or orange (rodians) for everyone except the client. Horns default to brown for everyone, including the client. A server reset will fix it, but it of course is a huge pain in the butt for people wanting a certain look for an event later that day, or Image Designers and clients working together to get a certain look just right.
- Hair color change bug - If a client's hair color is changed, only they can see the change, the color will keep looking how it did after the last server reset to everyone else...until the next server reset when this rectifies itself. Sometimes a server reset is not necessary, but the variation in how much time must go by logged out for the correct hair color to be visible to all is so great, we cannot pin it down (this is also true of the #1 bug).
- Outstanding offer bug - Sometimes an Image Designer will get a message that their client has an outstanding image design offer. This used to happen VERY frequently in beta, but a time out feature was put into place to override this. Eventually if the client does not hit "accept" or "refuse" when offered something, the offer times out. Well in certain circumstances (some of them with no known cause), the time out never happens and the Image Designer will be unable to ID anyone for random periods of time, though a server reset always fixes it. It is more likely to happen if either the client or ID'er has a lag spike/crash or if a macro is being used with no pauses or pauses too close together. Workaround submitted by JonasBlackmore: “(1) Target yourself and type /imageDesign (2) Target your client and type /imageDesignSetValue eye_color 1 (3) Have the client accept or refuse the change (4) Tada your client is now fixed and working.”
- Slider bug - Sometimes (and we have never pinned down why this happens but it's frequent enough to affect everyone every so often) when you click on a feature you want to modify that has a slider bar as it's interface, the slider goes straight down to the zero position (all the way to the left) without you even touching it with your mouse. You have no way of knowing what setting the person's feature used to be at because it happens so fast you can't fix it. Even more horribly, the person's feature defaults to the zero setting first despite the fact that you haven't hit "commit" in order for them to receive the offer window. It is in fact a potential grief, and has made many people scared to use our services, and us afraid to offer them. So while just checking things out (say I click on chin to see what chin number value they have) their chin automatically disappears and I have no way of fixing it. We then have to eyeball it and I have one very nervous and flustered client. This bug happens with all things controlled by a numerical slider including face and body mods: nose length, cheeks, height, etc. - VERY awful wicked bug. Workaround submitted by Kanewt: “Log and come right back and everything will be back to normal.”
- Missing abilities - These are available in char creation but we can't do them: (1) Baldness (2) Male Zabrak freckles (3) Eye shape (while eye shape is listed it actually does eye angle, we need both an eye angle AND eye shape option).
- Mind needed bug - I hear this is a bug in other professions as well. Some people with lower mind, such as 400 or 500 often complain that they can't do mods they should be able to. For example something might require 375 mind, and with 400 mind they are told they don't have enough. Some ID'ers therefore are unable to do some of the higher up skills.
- Preview hair bug - Before and even after you offer someone a hairstyle, you cannot preview what it would look like on a client, but you can do so with all other ID mods. Result is that you end up offering things that look awful on the client, but you have no way of knowing.
- Hairstyle interface - Related to #7, the hairstyle icons on the ID UI cannot be resized, they are so tiny that some people with older graphics cards cannot even make out what they're looking at. They are helped some by screenshots (see ID websites sticky), so having numbers in the corner of each hairstyle would make life SO much easier. Even I with my ok graphics card can not tell a lot of hairstyles apart, especially the horns and short male hairstyles, and combined with not being able to preview the styles (see #7) I always embarass myself offering comb overs and other icky hairstyles to clients who came looking for something snazzy.
- We can't see what we're doing - A very common request is for a zoom in ability on the /examine window, or our own special ID window to see customer's faces well. We just can't see what we're doing. A related request is for a special ID lighting device.
- Cross-species hairstyle exploit - A hot fix went in so that those that had used an exploit to give themselves or others cross-species hairstyles would revert to a default hairstyle. Wookiees, Mon Calamaris, and Twi'leks were not affected by this hot fix and still have their exploited hairstyles.

- User Interface – Number values were added to our slider bar modifications (e.g. height); Color palettes replaced sliders where needed (e.g. eye color).
- Beyond Char Creation Range Exploit – A fix went in to disallow the assigning of values beyond the ranges allowed in character creation (e.g. height).
- Missing Abilities Added – Several missing abilities (available in char creation but not to ID’ers) have been added (e.g. Twi’lek ears, gullet).

- Species changes
- Gender changes
- Torsos for Mon Cals, Wookiees, Trandos
- Torsos beyond current max limit
WiSh LiSt
- New content – top three: more hairstyles, more hair colors, body tattoos
- Temporary disguises – dozens of threads have been devoted to discussing the potential PVP ramifications, but it is very desired
- Buffs not available through other means (now that Musicians and Dancers are buffing) – could be tied into “massage” or visiting a “spa”, or perfume
- The ability to craft and sell makeup (little lipsticks and eye shadow) and wigs (though this one is controversial as unlike makeup, hairstyles are a top ID request and there is concern we would lose business).
- Image Designer missions - These have been requested very often, a case where we feel like the red headed step child of entertainment. Even in beta there were requests for ID missions to do a modification to an NPC.
- Image Designing vendors - This is also often requested in the Merchant forum. Merchants destroy dozens and dozens of vendors trying to get just the right look. Would be a wonderful boon to two content hungry professions.
- A Master Image Designer building, equivalent to those placed by Master Musicians and Dancers. Ideas have ranged from having it be called a Spa or Beauty Salon, to having two or three rooms accommodating the different things Image Designers get up to, such as hairstyling/makeup (beauty salon), personal training (gym), and plastic surgery (clinic)
- A way to advertise our prices, services, and location. We often wish there was a piece of paper graphic for putting price lists on the bazaar/vendor. Many of us are merchants yet there is no “Image Designer” section on the global map (Advertising III).
- A way to zoom in in the /examine window (a workaround used by some) or a new special ID UI window.
- A special ID lighting device (could be called a mirror)
- The ability to stop clients from fidgeting/moving during the ID session (it is SOO hard to determine how long someone’s nose should be if their face and body are constantly twitching).

So...I'll order a Imperial crest on my biceps please, and a Stormie helmet on the left side of my chest.

Wookiee braids pleeeeeeeese? ![]()
- Paks, Master Ranger, Radiant, desperately wants braids.
Here's the list I sent Jake Rodgers, the Art Director as part of a doc he requested summarizing what people were asking for on a thread I started in Sept called "Art Team: What Women Want". Obviously way more than we could ever hope to see, but nevertheless he has it as a reference should some art time ever free up. The devs are aware that our top three requests are for new hairstyles, new hair colors, and body tattoos ![]()
·GUI – Issues: Difficult to find good lighting to view customer; Person’s head wiggles all over while you try to customize face; Hard to keep track of what a customer has seen in the past using slider bars; difficult to find graphical entities such as tattoo patterns and eyebrows. Proposed solutions: Give ID’s the character creation GUI in a window. Shade out boxes the ID’er does not yet have. Assign visible numbers to each tick of sliders that represent measurements, such as nose length, weight, and eye shape. Add more little pictures like those provided for hairstyles…for tattoo patterns, eyebrow shapes, etc. Add a box to the character window (ctrl-j) that has current settings written down (nose length #15 of 30, hairstyle #22 of 40, etc).
·Body Tattoos – Proposed locations: Ankles, wrists, hands, calf, lower back, upper back, upper arm, lower arm, tummy, chest. Types: Swirls & spikes, nature objects (corellian butterfly, flower, etc), rebel/imperial insignia. When granted: Add to Markings skill tree in ID, Markings I = ankle, Markings IV = upper arms
·More Hair Colors – Most frequent request by customers; Pure white, pure black, more natural colors (reds, browns, blondes), unnatural clors (pink, red, blue, purple, green, etc): available to master ID’s and requiring crafted dyes with rare components, temporary duration if possible.
·Full head of hair for Zabrak Females – ID-only styles are not being requested due to the receding hairline look, zabrak females would like a full head of hair with horns poking out, maybe some of the human hairstyles as well; Zabrak female with pigtails screenshot on swg site
·Muscles/height/torso slightly beyond char creation – Frequent request by customers; Would flesh out the Body skill tree in ID; Provided it does not cause graphical issues with clothing.
· Scars - (Exotic IV) Facial scars; Blue dead-eye look
·Extended makeup palette – More shades of red, pink, peach
·More hairstyles – Females - Princess Leia and Queen Amidala styles from the movies; 38th female human style w/out the hair in the face; Lower back length hair; More long and shoulder-length hairstyles in general; Long mid-back ponytail; More with accessories (beads, barettes, ribbons); More braided styles; Short & curly; Slicked back; Bob; More messy hair; Long hair with spiral curls. Males – Anime’ish spiky hairstyles; Long dreadlocks; More long/medium hairstyles; Spiky and messy styles.
·Wookiee hairstyles - Wookiees ask for their fur to be braided and dreadlocks, they say there are art team sketches of these somewhere; Wookiee females in particular would like hair in order to be recognizable as females – braids, pigtails, etc.
Ok. So I am a wookiee on Ahazi. No one can ever tell I'm a female and I am getting sick of everyone calling me "dude" "bro" "brah" "man" etc. I'm a RL female too and I didn't want to do the whole human thing... I wanted to be different and wookiees are cute just like ewoks. People only know I'm female (90% of the time) when I sit down. Is there anyway this wookiee woman can get a boob enhancement? I've searched all over the Ahazi server when I'm on for an ID to ask. Can't find one. Any help would be great!!
~Nikkostar on Ahazi (posted on Image Designer forum)
·Bust for Mon Cals, Trandos, Wookiee females – While they could never increase the size of their torso, before the first big patch Mon Cal’s had a little bust, now they are flat chested like Trandos and Wookiees. These species really struggle with people assuming they are males. The poor courageous females that choose these species could use a little padding.
·Ability to ID NPC vendors – If Merchant has Hiring III; People create and destroy dozens of vendors trying to get a certain look (database issue). I destroyed about 40 vendors last night and finally settled on a purple Twi’lek w/ yellow markings, red eyebrows, orange eyes, and pink lipstick.
·Ability to ID pets – Fur/skin dyeing is often suggested
·More lekku styles – Tightly twisted together to the back; Sticking up to the sides like pigtails; Pulled up to lay on the head; Meeting in the front/back with tips overlaying
·Sex/Race change – (Master ID) This comes up a lot (maybe only once per char lifetime?) People change their minds but don’t want to recreate
·Craftable, tradeable lipsticks & eyeshadows – (Novice ID) To sell on bazaar/vendors (plus any other makeup if added to game)
·More of existing char creation options – Particularly markings patterns
·Wookiee/Bothan Branding – Tattoos for fur; Chest and arms?
·Highlights in hair – Streaks or shading of color over the main color
·Piercing – ID IV? - To compliment new tailoring jewelry schematics (players get ears or bellybutton pierced before jewelry can be equipped)
·Nail polish – Novice Entertainer – Fingernails and toenails
·Blush, Eye liner – Novice Entertainer - Subtle shading of color please if implemented
·Bindis – Exotic IV - This website has many photos and examples in an easy to see format: www.diamondbindi.com (see cat eye, belly, bellybutton, arm); Maybe make bindis craftable; This website has photos of celebrities with bindis on their foreheads, as well as many henna tattoos: http://www.naturalexpressions.org/mehndipic.html
·Eyelashes
·Ability to dye hair accessories – barettes, beads, and ponytail holders
·More options for eyebrows (natural looking)
·Slider for hips and buttocks – For the more curvaceous lady; Body I?
·Body freckles – Chest, shoulders
·Ability to make lekku skinnier
·More Trando ridges – More dramatic spikes, extending down the spine
i found a new bug i dont think its been said and sry if i missed itbut i found out the way of putting your own hair in your invent and you can destroy it to become bald or what have you,
it happens by:
you pick a random hairstyle and commit it when it comes up with the box saying accept click the cross in the top right corner then go back into hairstyles and and put yor hair back to what it was and click accept and your hair will now be in your invent and if you want to go bald you just destroy it and its gone.
