Thread: Fearing the ID

Hello,

Well reciently I purchased a second account. I decided to work on Dancer as a proffession. Mastered it easily. Then was going for a full buff helper, doctor. Got all the way to Master Surgeon (ie, everything but the crafting) and realized. HAY, I already have a full time crafter... *sighs* And didnt wish to farmall the different planetary resources or spend tons of cash to buy the buff packs. Frankly I'd rather just ask a doctor to buff me andbank tip them.So I surrendered all of the skills in Doc/Medic as it would just be more than I could handle foran alternate. Not that there is anything wrong with being a doctor for a main character.

So Idecided to do the full blown MasterEntertainer,MasterDancer, Master Musicianline which includes a majority of the ID as well. Although I won't be able to master it with the skill points left, but can get far enough in it to be useful to others and friends.

However, now Im down to just the ID portion of it. I've done searchs for help on trying to grind this, but it's not been easy. I can ID myself, however that gets really boring fast. I mean seriously 2 mins is a very long time to wait when just staring at the clock. Much less when you finally get to the point where you can stat migrate for alot more exp per 10 mins. TEN MINUTES???!!! Ok Yesthats a complaint I'm sure you all have. I'm sure a big portion of why this has happened as other's probably exploited afk macroing for this proffession. Understandable that it got nurfed. Although, I hope they impliment a better solution than that one. Sorry now I'm rambling and getting off topic.

Anyhow....
Has anyone actually gotten high in ID since theyve nurfed the macroing? Doesnt the experience given seem rediculously low for the amount of time invested? How long will it take to become an ID with the new way of doing it? How many hours a day should I grind it, without going totally insaine?Should I wait untill they fix (if they intend on fixing) this class?

I'd love to be able to change apperance's. For being a master tailor I can color coordinate my own cloths, hair, looks... This would be alot of fun for me to have this ability for myself and the people around me. However, just thinking about how difficult it may be, is a huge turn off. Difficult = boring and redundant. Granted I could take it the slow route and just work on it little by little, now and again and probably get max skill that I can over a long period of time like 6 months. If forced to do so... *sighs* I'd rather not do it that way. I'm sure we all just want to get the grind done with so we can enjoy ourselves...In this case I just feel their has to be a good way to do it without losing your mind.

Comments, feedback welcomed!

lol, I was going to start a thread asking the exact same thing. I'd like to do ID as well, as a supplemental source of income/ fun for my toon. Relieves some boredom changing the look of it from time to time. But damn, how do you earn XP? Every other profession is 'needed' ie, people WILL get wounded, fatigued etc. Even the combat ones rely on mobs. ID is completely dependant on other players, and it isn't essential.

Not to mention 10 minutes of stat migration is 10 precious minutes less for farming XP for players , no wonder there's no customers. How to ID's do it now? IDing my own toon at 50XP / 2 mins is not my idea of fun.

well yes, I sat there for a week and a half while I was on holidays (40+ hours in the canvas prison) and I did one stat after another and made about 3.5 million in tips.

near the end I looted an auto accept script in which I ran for Newb IDers while I went to sleep or worked to help them grind stats.

That script is in this ID forum area you'll have to look for it. time served = mastery

I have mastered ID on 6 different Servers since the mini-publish that introduced timers and have taken4 other characters to Novice (I have 2 accounts and play on 7 different live servers). My first 2 MIDs made it back when stat migrations only got you 600 xp for the 10 minutes (making eye color the most efficient method of grinding). My advice to you, since you say that you have 2 accounts, is to use one for your victim and set them up with the auto-accept macro. The idea of grinding ID without a dedicated victim is not something I would even consider.

I tried the macros listed, and they didn't work. is the ui defaultbutton command still in the game? The box disappears, but I get no XP. further, the target self, followed by image generates a message that ID can only be done on players. So I used imagedesign self. I am running nothing else, so the ID is highlighted.

It works for me. Are you making your changes in the ID Interface? You must, even with the macro or you won't get any xp.

Once you get to novice ID you can start doing stat migrations which are a great source of income. Why not just play the character from that point forward? No need to "grind" it because we have a cash cow skill right from novice. If a badge or something is your goal then good luck with your grind, but if you merely wish to have a valuable and marketable profession then just start playing. The experience will come.

I wanted to macro not for FS or anything. But only because I find it fun to change my toon looks all the time. That I could make money doing stat migrations was really gravy. Seeing how high I'd have to go though isn't really feasible for someone wanting ID as 'a hobby', hence the desire for a macro.

Ah well, I guess Plan B- earn more credits to pay you guys!
