Thread: Mucho dinero for the Image Designer

Before you start flaming me, I want to state that this is just an idea from a non-image designer on how to add something to the game to make image designers a nessesary role in the galaxy. Not just someone you visit once to migrate stats and then maybe a few months later to change your hairdo.

What if, when you've been at the battlefield for a long time you start getting battle scars. Let's say that the game makes a pool of your battlefateague that doesn't get reduced when you go see an entertainer. A seperate pool which upon reaching say 5000 points would give you a nasty looking scar. Then again at each 5000 points after that.
5000 points may seem like alot but it doesn't really take that long to collect 5000 BF when it doesn't get reduced at all.
Now the only way to get rid of these scars would be to go visit an image designer. The image designer would remove the scars and drop the total BF pool down to zero and the counter would start again.

It may be that this idea belongs more in the doctor profession, of that I'm not certain but I would really like to see image designers have a bigger role in the galaxy.

And besides battlewounds are fun. Some might even decide not to go and have them fixed, rather wearing them proudly.

What do you guys think.

Your idea certainly sounds more interesting and cool than the idea someone else had to "buff" BF.

The only problem I see is that IDs have been requesting to be able to actually give people scars forever because scars are cool. In your scenario people could get scars added to their character design without seeing an ID. It makes sense RP-wise but it would make IDs upset that one of their number one requested items was being given to another game system.

When they can no longer see their nose or eyes because of scars then surely they will come to you

Seriously though, whilst scars can be cool, players may not want to keep them all. You coult put in multiple stages of scars.

  • 5000 BF - Light scar

  • 10000 BF - Medium scar

  • 15000 BF - Heavily scarred

  • 20000 BF - Grossly scarred

  • 25000 BF - Unrecognisable

The image designer can take a person from being Unrecognisable down to Medium Scarred or Lightly Scarred, depending upon the clients wishes. This way, the game system actually provides combatants with scars which get worse the more battle you do. And Image designers keep them in check or make them go away completely.

this has been discussed and the blackhole call development has not been heard from.

I like it I'd lower the values if I was implimenting it..

  • 300 BF - Light scar
  • 500 BF - Medium scar
  • 750 BF - Heavily scarred
  • 1000BF - Grossly scarred
  • 1500BF - Unrecognisable (Digging radioactives too many clones in one night)

  • and what sory of graphic lag would we be looking at..

I'm all for it it would make Id even more viable... but griefer might say... What can't I see a doctor to remove the scars..e tc.

As Vorpaks pointed out, scars are one of the most requested ID abilities by combat types Some of them would prob see it as a feature, though if the scarring got horrible looking I can see where an adjustment would be wanted by just about everyone. That said, there is usually sentiment expressed that we not get any abilities that would force people to come and see us. Players were grumpy enough over stat migration I do hope we get scars one day but personally I'd rather apply them to people that want them than remove them from those who don't.

First I'd like to say that this is one of the most constructive ideas I have heard from non-IDs about us IDs for a long time It would be cool to see more such ideas.

But I think I have to agree, that it won't work that good. Many Combat-oriented players ask about getting scars and I can allready 'hear' my customers say: '...but don't touch my battlescars!'

And if you make those scars really ugly and give the ID the ability to place 'decorative scars', that look nicer, that won't help either...

Players would start complaining again to be forced to do something they don't plan/want/wish/like to do...

but I still like this kind of idea much better than this 'buff-bf'-idea that came up here earlier... it's allready hard enough to get entertainer healing xp without exploiting or atleast stretching some of the game-mechanics to it's limits of 'legality'... no need to make it even worse.

Like the lowered values, LOVE THE IDEA!!! as for the highlighted comment ... Image Designers are SWG's answer to plastic surgeons. Everyone knows that when you are disfigured in any way, or merely unhappy with you present features you go to see a plastic surgeon ... not an MD. I cant see why anyone would think that an IG doc would be given this ability. I think IM is exactly where this idea belongs, and I love it.

The lowered stats are way too low. You can easily gather up 1500 BF in a couple of days. Image designers would be really hated in the galaxy if everyone were forced to go see them at least once a week to get scars removed. But once a month or so wouldn't be that bad. I think the higher values would get a much better acceptance amongst the player base.

Yeah. I can give myself bf if I as a TK -- aside from the fighting -- just get my Force of Will wrong. For people who spend days and days fighting, you can really rack up the BF. 1500 is something I could reach in a week just being lazy about it.

Honestly though, right now I hesitate in giving anything out that forces people to go to Image Designers. This is a cool idea, but until / unless we get more ID's up and running (and I'm pretty sure people are going to drop as they work toward being a Padawan), I'm afraid to mandate more people to use services that are so hard to find.

idea's for us to be included on the force quests.. so the public didnt give any.. maybe thats because 90% of the ID's ingame did it for a grind. The ones here to stay like myself would have liked to have SOMETHING. Then fact that we got nothing and that the xp to fxp conversion rate for us SUCKS considering how intensive the profession is to master now.

heres a few idea's that didnt take much thought. disguises something to make ppl look differant, i mean jedi are supposed to be hunted so if they look differant they "should" be harder for BH to find right ? it just seems to me that the didnt even wanna give it any effort so they just didnt include us.

Absolutely! I do not want anyone coming to see me because they *have* to. That just makes people unpleasant. Speaking of that, I am a little worried about the role of image designers in the combat rebalance (whenever it comes around). I can see a few weeks where the demand for stat migrations is so huge that we have no chance at being able to keep up.

When i thought about the rebalance having new "best" professions and FOTMs plus healable mind and reduced buffing effectiveness. I realized that most people are going to want to adjust their stats. Yes, there will be alot of money to be made but, there will also be alot of people grumpy with waiting the better part of an hour for the few people before them to get finished by the few IDs that are generally available. I am hoping at the very least they can drop masters down to 5 mins or create an ID version of havla to speed the lines up.
