Thread: Population across servers

Just got to wondering about the population spread by server. What intrigued me was I looked at the ID list by server post when I noticed that some of the servers wrapped to two lines, some seemed to barely have any. So, being only slightly bored, I had to do a count for each server.

So, for those ID's willing to be publicly listed by server, here are the current standings.

Starsider is the clear winner with 30 listed ID, with Brai pulling second with 28, and Chimera a close third with 26. Pulling in dead last is Tempest with 5 with Infinity just barely ahead with 8. Therest of the servers all are about even with an average of 15. Some less, some more of course but not enough to really stand out.

This compasison is based upon the 8/15/2004 edit of the list. What I'd be curious to find out is if theratio to publicly declared vs. those ID's who prefer to remain anonymous remains constant across the server boundaries, or if say Tempest has a higher actual ID population than Starsider, but only 5 are willing to advertise in this medium? Oh, and by publicly declared, I mean only here on this ID by server list.

The stats are misleading because not every player uses the SOE forums... which give a non-honest show of hands for actual image designers.

I've seen over 60 ID's on Ahazi in the last 3 months.. how many are still IDs? it's hard to say it's a sleeper Profession, it too nice to have to drop and with stats.. it's too time delayed to show and advertise. Most Id's keep the profession for thier guild and do guild work. or are alternate accounts holding lots in the cities. I am not sure how some people can have 2 and 3 and 4 accounts active.... seems expensive but with time cards I guess... *shrug*

<laughs> I never claimed it was scientifically accurate, only that it was based on the current published list of those willing to be listed. I know each server has *LOTS* more ID's than on the list or even visit the forums. I may have my blond moments, but I don't think I'm*that* blondHowever, I would still be curiouse if the ratios remain constant. Does Starsider actually have a statisically higher percentage of ID's over all, or is the perception skewed because it simply has a higher percantage that request the listing.

I know a lot of image designers from Flurry who do not participate in the forums here. Actually, I've been working very hard to try to get some of my fellow image designers who do not generally come here to stop by and visit, and contribute to our little community.

Big indicator: If you mention the big pricing debate to a fellow image designer in a tent and they have no clue what you're talking about, they haven't read the forums. I seriously think we should encourage the other image designers who don't use the forums to come and join us. Yes, I know there will be holdouts, but still...I'm always happy when a new member joins our little family here, and I think you all do too....I still remember when I first came on!!!! /grin /wink Fuscia

Anyways...my two creds, as usual,

I really must wonder how badly starved some servers must be for ID services. I am one of the 28 Brian IDs an it is not uncommon that for me to be the only ID in the Theed or Coronet tents during hours long periods in the evenings.

Not sure if this is entirely accurate but from all of my customers on Radiant I am being told I am the last MID. I know of two other active MIDs, one of which I have seen in the past two week period but other than that I am starting to believe my customers.

Honestly... I like it!

I am so loved on my server. People are actually patient with me and if not they dont get my services. Im treated like Bothan royalty. *watches his ego go with selfish pride*

Actually no. But I did help my best friend with her Masters Thesis a few years back that involved a heck of a lot of statisical analysys. She got her master in Archeology, so go fig that they do a lot of number crunching. <giggle>. And I agree with your first assesment "sadistics". Mathmatica is a tool of the devil I tell you.

Ooh, wanna help me with mine when I eventually go back for my masters in biological anthropology? They're similar fields.
