Unfortunately, however nice it would be, name-changing has been no-no'd by the dev's, simply because the current database would not handle it well at all. Names are integrated into everything, from crafted items, to bank transactions, ownership of buildings, etc... it just wouldn't work too well...

don't tell me they handle players bu NAME ? they must have a SN/index. they can't be THAT lame.

I don't know how the actual data is organized in the database that is the backbone of the game. But in several occasions the devs have stated that changing a players name is not possible. Maybe because it would be way too much effort to change every occurance of this name (like in all the items made by a player) and the like. I think there is simply too much tied to the name of a player. Beside that I think there would be too much ways to abuse this. Griefing is allready a way to serious problem to be ignored, but now imagine that with the player ability of changing the names....

I don't want to imagine that...

I agree. I look at it as less of acode limitaion and more a matter of not letting griefers burn their bridges with no consequences.

I wish we could change last names though. Those don't affect your player info, and when I get married I wouldn't mind having my last name changed.

Yeah, no kidding.. when I first made my character, I forgot to erase my random last name before typing the custom one.. and since then, I've been happily married in-game... so last-name changes would, eh... r0><><0rz...

Last name changes would be good, since we can be married

Not right now, but it's one of the requests we've made in our top 5(14) list for the devs.
