Thread: Musicians and dancers are getting a quest..how about an ID one!

I was doing a little thinking the other day, as you do, and thought to myself "how could you implement player placeable salons without making them too easily accesible?"

Well, how about an ID quest? It would be giving IDs content similar to that the musicians and dancers will be getting soon but with a reward of a player placeable salon.

Quests could start off being a simple change of hair colour followed by a haircut, tatoo/marking change, body change and finally a full makeoever. Obviously it's not that simple but every idea starts somewhere.

The reward for sucessfully completing the quest could be an player placeable ID salon, placeable only in player cities which can only be earned once. In the future more styles of salon could be added and the quest made repeatable or cloned to a different location. Salons would not be tradeable and if you earned several styles of salon only one could be placed at a time. Obviously they would only be placeable by Master IDs. This would also add that little bit extra content to the Master box.

no no no and no.

I don't want the stat migrations following me to where ever I am... they're fine where they are. it gives me a buffer from doing stats.

They'd hardly follow you to where you are. It would just be nice for people who do a lot of work in their own town or dont live near a salon. I doubt any play salon would challenge a static one for business.

Then just don't do the quest/buy a droid/buy a salon, etc. /shrug Seems pretty simple to me.

I don't see what the big deal is. If one would like to continue to only use npc-city tents, then by all means do so. But there are some of us that would like the option of a little mobility, like every other profession out there.

If you don't want to do stats, just say no. You didn't seem to have any problem saying it here.

And what kind of quest do you have in mind? I'd really like togather some nice ideas, that I could present to the devs. That's not only tied to an ID-tent/salon as reward ,which would more likely be craftable by an architect. But I'd like to gather ideas what kind of quests we IDs could undertake to make our live a bit more exciting and maybe to earn something nice and new, that the devs might chew up.

Heh, he said that there could be different styles... I'd love it if my salon looked like an old barber shop. You know, with the candy stripe pole outside? But then I'd need a handlebar mustache... All the more reason for 3D facial hair!

But seriously... I'm not really for or against player salons. PC Med centers and cantinas hardly ruined Theed or Coronet's traffic, so I can't imagine a salon would either. But the idea of making a variety of salons intrigues me... I don't care much for working in a tent. That's what a scout/ranger does. I'd love to hear some other people's ideas about salon types.

First of all, any reward that is only placeable as a structure in a player city I am firmly against. The reason is that not everyone lives in a player city, nor are they associated with a guild that is in one. You should not penalize people because they don't want to be involved in city/guild politics.

Second of all, masters get plenty of content as it is now to be honest. Skin color and halved timers outside salons alone are enough to have masters be very in demand and much more flexible in running their business, plus there are otehr things like extra colors, torso size, etc. I don't see any point to making yet another master-only perk, it's hard enough to be a learner ID these days, lets not punish them even more.

Third of all, the entertainer "quests" are well, not fun. They are insulting in a lot of ways, structured in such a way that they will be annoying to do and annoying for everyone around the entertainer trying to do them. Be careful what you wish for

The Dancer/Musician Quest is on hiatus.

I doubt it'll be implemented by mid-2005.

If you gather up some good ideas, I would get them to the Devs ASAP.

I never did understand why they called it an "Entertainer Quest" when ID's and Entertainers were excluded...

Well what I meant in my first post is what is likely to happen if an ID quest were implemented. I agree with you on most of your points.

And to TC. The sorts of quests I had in mind were one for IDs with combat skills, and one for those without. People with combat skills would have to give a squad of soldiers a makeover so that they could sneak behind enemy lines and take out a base from the inside. You go with them along the way making changes to certain people along the way. For example, you want to get into their gang leader's office. You ID a member of your squad to look like him using a picture you are given. You get certain documents then have to take out the base. If anybody fails to fool the gaurds you fail your mission and have to try again.

If you dont have combat skills you can take the non combat quest where you are trying out for job as a plastic surgeon or beautitian. You have to complete various ID tasks. You will be given a picture or justa discription in the later parts of the quest and have to make your NPC customer look as much like that as possible. Again, if you do create a close enough likeness you fail and have to start the quest again. To make the quests more interesting they could involve inter planetary travel.

Possible rewards other than player placeable salons could be new holoemotes, new hairstyles or the ability to give players other than zabraks tatoos to name but a few.

The quests for ID's willnot happenunless the dev's give us the ability to ID NPC chars. We have been asking for this ability for merchant vendors forever, & creating quests that would let us ID NPC's would basically solve the issue of how to ID vendors. We could have killed two birds with one stone, but the devs don't really want us to have this ability because it will use too much dataspace to store all the customized settings for the NPC's or vendors.

Any quests they develop either won't have squat to do with ID, or will just involve a char that tells you to go out & get lots of normal player ID xp & return to him or herwhen done. I'd rather see that dev time used to fix some bugs or correct glitches in the models/textures etc.
