I have been a Master Tailor for several months and LOVE it. I tried Chef as a second profession but it doesn't go too well (if only the foods we ate affected our physical size: sell a bunch of pie and a new suit along with it...) Anyway, I hated Chef and I am thinking about being a Master ID along with my Tailor (to give the full make-over experience). Has anyone else tried this combo and what was your experience?

Well....it has it's pros and cons. The wonderful thing about it is that they compliment each other very well. Someone comes in for an image design, sees that you make clothes and *poof* you have yourself a custom order, and vice versa. Someone buys some new clothes, sees you do image design and would like their hair color and lipstick to match their new outfit.
The cons as far as my personal experience goes is that in a lot of ways my ID-ing suffers because of time and effort that is required in maintaining my Tailor shop and vendors, resource shopping, maintaining factories, etc. I would imagine it would be even worse if I had tried to do it when I was maintaining my own harvestors also.
But all that being said...I dont' think I could ever bring myself to drop either one. :-)

I find this template to be a lot of fun personally
It is wonderful to be able to give your clients complete makeovers, not to mention the entertainment that can be had just dressing up yourself *grins*. I have a tailor on shadowfire as well from back when that server was brought online that is a tailor/dancer, and though that was fun as well, I seem to be spending more and more of my time on Ahazi making people over. Not to mention my great guild there that keeps me coming back ^_^

I love being an ID/Tailor. The professions compliment each other so well and it really makes it fun to play with. I love being able to give the full makeover. I can always get myself to look however I want and end up changing my outfit everyday and IDing myself to match. I like being able to give other people a makeover, and find that Tailor skills are often very useful as well in the ID tent, when you are also an ID too, because people will need a new outfit to go with their new look.
I'm a Master ID, Master Tailor, 3441 Merchant and won't ever be changing my template. I love it too much.
I completely agree with Gesikah though. In my experiences, I completely relate.
I mastered ID first and later decided to take up Tailor and some Merchant to open a Tailor shop. I was drawn to it for its creative abilities and was surprised to find out along the way how popular of a profession combination it really is. However, Tailorcan be sotime consuming, with restocking and fulfilling custom orders and maintaining vendors, running factories for components, and harvesting resources that ID always ends up taking a backseat for me when I get really swamped, and that makes me kinda sad. It went from my primary profession to my secondary profession. But I'd still never give it up. ^_^
But in all, I think its a great combo and enjoy it alot.

I can only agree there
ID/Tailor is really fun to play and sometimes a bit irritating to your friends when they don't recognize your avatar on first sight each time

I tried a tailor on test and loved it all but the color palattes(sp?) they are too vague. When I want an outfit a certain color its hard to describe to a tailor the exact color I want. Everyone sees colors differently which is not a bad thing at all....just makes it hard when you see a color you want on someone or a colored item you got from another tailorand cant describe it to another tailor. There needs to be a better system, something numbered maybe for the tailor and known to the community so that when we want to order a color we can go ok color A, 12 or whatever the corresponding may be in the order of things. :-)

Thanks all. My journey is going well so far. The ten minutes for the stat-migrates gives me a lot of time to sell the customer on new clothing hehe

I love ID/tailor. You can complete a "look". I never realized how much I loved the template until I put the two professions on different characters on TC (I have a tailor/architect/merchant and an ID/musician/partial dancer). The "ooo if you just tweaked your hair a little... lemme get my alt" got really annoying.
The only problem I've found is that you never have a steady stream of stuff to do. You're either really busy or you have nobody around. You're filling orders, and you've got ID clients coming and going, and you can barely keep up with the tells, and then suddenly... whoosh, everyone is gone. W00t! I finally have time for... uh, oops. My friends are out hunting together socializing, so I could go to the cantina... oh that's right, the cantina has been zero fun for months. /sigh. I miss my cantinas.
So, in closing, you might have to get creative with your spare time, but it's a very nice combo.

My alt is a tailor/ID. He was actually created specifically for that purpose. It's pretty much perfect for myself and friends. Get to make sure everything matches and that every thing is porportionate. He has absolutley nothing to do and a ton of free time though since he doesn't keep a "stocked" vendor.
Like everyone else has said, the two compliment each other nicely and you can turn out some good looking people. I'm going to have to start taking before and after shots of people.
