Why is it that all the really good idea threads just seem to die off? Is anyone really paying attention? And if so (i noticed and posted in the thread at the top to introduce ourselves) could the powers that be please send us a post that tells us what ideas they REALLY liked and give us some encouragement that they are seriously pushing for it? It is very discouraging to keep saying the same thing over and over and over and over and continually get the feeling that you are not being heard. Ive been told by CSR in the game to post on the forums, to submit feedback blah blah blah ... i do, i do, i do, i do !!! And still, nothing is ever mentioned about the ideas, nothing ever comes from them. There are some really great ideas out there from the people who are actually PLAYING the professions. Wouldnt it make sence for the Devs to seriously consider what WE think would make OUR professions more inviting?

Therein lies the answer... The devs don't like any of our ideas because it means too much work. Look at what happened during our last big change. The devs asked us for ideas & we gave them... tons of them... and then what did they do? They completely ignored us & went in a direction that this community specifically did not want to go, because it involved the least amount of work on their part & helped add in a time sink for everyone.

I see these idea threads, & they are good ideas, certainly. But what is funny about a lot of them is that they aren't necessarily new ideas. Many of these new ideas being posted are very similar or even the same as ones posted before. This isn't saying anything bad about the people posting them either... on the contrary, it shows how this diverse community of creative peopleare all thinking on the same page when it comes to improving our profession. The real reason we're probably not seeing as much involvement in these idea threads is that for one, there really are less of us around than before... & two, some who were burnt before are probably reluctant to put in the time & effort only to be ignored again.

There was a time long ago where the devs really did listen to us & worked on some of our ideas to improve this profession, & that collaboration resulted in having the numbers attached to the sliders. That was the best improvement made to this profession ever, based on input from this community. But as part of the last change it dissapeared & who knows if it will ever be put back in or not. At this point all I hope for is that they don't make anything worse.

It's not true, that 'the powers that be' don't like ID or our ideas or any other nonesense like that. They simply don't have the time to constantly monitor everything about all the boards and coment on any ideas brought up. It's one of our tasks as Correspondent to collect and compile ideas of the comunity and bring them to the devs and that's what I'm doing for this great comunity and I do it with much joy.

But you have to understand that the process from an idea to actual implementation is a very long road. And of course not all ideas can make it into the game while others are kept in reserve for future use when the time for it is right.

With the next mini-publish, which will should get on the live servers sometime next week alot of issues getadressed and alot of long awaited fixes and enhancements will go live, too. So we finally get our timers significantly reduced and Master should have no timers at all for cosmetic and body changes, even outside the Salons. That's really an improvement for us all and our customers as well.

But while all this is nice we don't have to forget, that the major focus is on the Combat upgrade now, which is not a mere fix of some combat-bugs, but as TH stated in his post about it, is a total overhaul of the Combat-system in a scale, that other games would onlysee introduced with a complete new version of the core-game... like EQ 2 that just hit the shelves... only that OUR devs will do these changes to the working game. That's a very bold move.

And beside serious bugfixing and working on the Combat upgrade they devseven work on other game-improvments like the loot-revamp and I bet there areother interesting projectswaiting forus as well.

This all shows how busy the devs really are... and not just busy with doing their job, but busy with doing their job to make this game better. They don't ignore our ideas or that of other professions or any player, but they just don't have the time to answer them all. Infact the devs have been more comunicative than ever in the last few months and their good experiences they made withthis during the JTL-Beta for exampleensured them tostay more open to the comunity, if theyhave the time for it.

About great threads, that seem to suddenly 'die off' I can only say that this is prettynormal... there is allways a point reached when all interested players have said all they want about it. So the thread simplyfalls back and asleep. That's not desinterest or ignorance... it's justnormal. And they don't get forgotten either. We Correspondents often re-read such threadsand notify the devs about them, when it might help to give the devs a good idea aboutthe topic or sometimes just out of joy Or when compiling and gathering info about a certain topic.

So dont feel ignored or forgotten just because good threads seem to disapear from your sight or because the devs don't answer directly to ideas that are brought up here. It's the job of a Correspondent to remind the devsabout such things and they do pay attention.

May the Force be with you all!

I know that the dev's have hundreds of thousands of ppl's ideas rolling around about to drive them crazy. I was not meaning to offend anyone. However, I think that it would be a really good idea for the profession correspondents to create a two key posts for each profession. First post would be for ideas to be placed, second would be for the correspondent to copy/paste each idea (ommitting duplicates or modifying current ones with better ideas following the same line) and for the correspondent to occasionally "check in" and let us know what issues have been taken to the devs, and which issues the devs were honestly and earnestly listening to and considering.

There are thousands of ppl practincing each profession. And each of them have ideas, most of them are similar ideas. It would be nice to go to a professions thread that i practiced under and see a list of all the ideas in a neat organized, to the point fashion. So many of the ideas threads are very talky and you cant find the point for the garble. And it would be nice to see if any of our ideas are being considered at all. Several ppl feel so hopeless when it comes to this game. Most everyone I know is full of ideas, and refuse to speak their minds because they feel unheard. It would just be nice to see that our voices do matter.

And this is not saying that we arent heard, it is saying that I FEEL there has to be a more productive way for the developers and correspondents to give us hope.

I will say this much. Our ID forum is smaller than many because our population is smaller and there are fewer issues those outside of it care to comment on. This has the effect where once all the usual suspects have commented the thread dies unless there is a division in opinion.

For the most part our community is alot more united than most and has fewer "guest detractors" so debate is less frequent. Not that we all agrre with eachother on everything, Just that things get less confrontational for the most part when we do disagree. You could also say we are fortunate or unfortunate that we have a few obvious problems that most will agree with.

One good thing about it is that threads do not fall off the first page in a few hours like on many forums so, you have time to get heard or bump them.

The top 5 list is sort of the type of post you are suggesting.
