my friends think im nuts for loving it. so far i've done:

marksman

entertainer

scout

artisan

brawler

medic

doctor

combat medic

carbineer

pistoleer

rifleman

bio engineer

ranger

creature handler

weaponsmith

droid engineer

architect

shipwright

pilot

jedi

smuggler

commando

fencer

pikeman

swordsman

tka

merchant

all of these have pretty much been done because i wanted to do them and learn what goes into those professions. the only venue that i had not explored, were the elite entertainer professions, so i decided to do image designer.

i have greatly enjoyed my time as an image designer, even though im only 3/4/2/0. i spent a great deal of time in the coronet image design salon over the weekend, doing stat migrations on my alt doc mainly, but of course taking care of any partons who wandered in asking for changes. obviously i couldn't help everyone, but nothing beats having a customer coming in for a new haircut and having them leave with a blue mowhawk.

i even made pretty good credits. most people gave anywhere from 5k to 50k. i did not set any prices, i just told them to pay what they though the service was worth. most tips were 20-30k. i think it helps having a female twi'lek ID. i dont think the player would be as inclined to give a fat male fish character a nice tip as they are to give female twi's tips.

ID is fun, because of the possibilities and the fact you control a players looks. one of the best things about SWG is if you get bored with your look, just find an image desginer. tho, these days finding an ID is pretty hard depending on what server you play on. i hope to finish ID up by next weekend. then i guess i'll hang out intown, see what kind of business i get etc. the demand is certainly there for ID's.

I'm glad to hear you enjoy being ID as much as many of us do And yes, it's allways a moment to remember to see someone leave with a fancy mohawk

I prefer green mowhawks myself. I love it when you can get someone to truly express their inner self. I love ID.

lol noone gets green. its not about getting someone to truely express their inner selves lol. its about when they come in thinking all the need is like their lips moved 3 notches to the right, and you convinced them they need a blue or red mowhawk, and they totally buy into it.

most of my ingame friends think im wierd for doing id. they laugh at me and honestly, they ask me a question that is one word:

"Why?"

ID requires very little money, very little upkeep. you can progress as slowly as you want (believe me its slow lol). you aren't pressed into major competition, which isnt the case when it comes to say...weaponsmith. you dont have to worry about keeping a vendor stocked. all you have to do is make sure your ID looks cute and you will surely make money. your services are indemand and you dont have to craft anything special, or have 90% comp armor to be competitive. you dont have bounty hunters hunting you down, and you aren't perma overt.

its relaxing i guess till u have to deal with someone like me who is so acute to detail. the second i make master im gonna make my jedi purple, with white eyebrows, white lips and white eyes. max short of course. i'll wear the master ID tag with pride for sure. this game can be a burden on you, with constant tells, questions, pressure to perform in pvp, etc. ID? its the simple life. you are truely free and its a great feeling.

Now that I'm officially in retirement, I'm actually spending a whole lot more of my in-game time doing ID. Before I was the tailor corr, I was about 50/50 tailor/id. Then during my corr-ship I was 80/20. Now, I'm approaching the 50/50 mark again, and feeling very zen.

"i think it helps having a female twi'lek ID"

Hehe. Too bad my alt isnt a female twi'lek now that I've decided to make her an ID.
The only problem I'm having is that I'm yet at the entertainer tree and it takes a lot of patience to grind.
(I miss the old way where you could just set a macro and have the proffessin done within very short amount ot time).

But it'll shorten the grind quite a lot when publish 11.2 comes out (whenever that would be).

I disagree - playing around with various colors on your wife's (in game) hair color (purple looks really nice on Kirah btw)and forgetting to change it back when you have to log out, that beats the blue mohawk.

i mastered ID last night, and naturally spend a good hour + image designing myself. twi'leks in general have an incredible color pallate when it comes to skin color. this enforces even more the premise that twi'leks are the best playable races.

i made a total of 1.4 million credits while leveling image designer. overall, i was very pleased with the income that my character generated. i even had an architect make my image designer some customized furniture, aptly named after her. it was a very nice gesture.
