Thread: Suffering with ID Woes on the Euro server
Well, I price my services depending on the skill level the particular skill requires. 1k/skill level works ok usually for facial and body customizations, though it doesn't work with hairstyles and markings, since those vary with the species of the customer. As such, I have one fixed price for hairstyles that are available at the character creation (1.5k), and another fixed price for those not available at the character creation (3k). Markings style and color both cost the same (3k each), regardless of race. I make a lot of package deals though, and I have fixed prices for unlimited facial and unlimited body customizations.
Fixed prices wouldn't help you much though I think, since you're on a new server which doesn't have an established economy yet. As such a lot of services and goods are way underpriced, simply because no one can afford to pay more yet, while they're all still building up their character.
My advice would be to tell potential clients up front that you are trying to figure out your future price list for your services and would appreciate if they would tip you what they feel the particular service and time taken are worth. That's what I did the first few weeks of the game when there wasn't a lot of money floating around. The tips were small at first but quickly got bigger and bigger until 1k per change was the most frequent. Myself and the other Image Designers in my city were nevertheless getting stiffed now and then, and came up with the following price list...
1k - hair/tattoo color
2k - face change/char creation hairstyle
3k - tattoo pattern/ID only hairstyle
4k - body change
Good luck
It's rough being in a new economy, esp as a profession with no secure trade system ![]()
Thanks ![]()
I have put together a price list on my website and was wondering if you could have a look and let me know if anything should be changed or is missing, or out of place etc. Would really appreciate it.
Thanks!
Hiya all.. I was wondering if some of you could share your price lists with me.. as I am not sure at all what to charge. I will show you my situation so you know why I am asking.
*Sigh* I'm so bummed about this right now.
This is what I posted on my euro server forums:
I was a master image designer on Shadowfire and the way I worked was that I told people I left payments up to them. Usually I got at least 1k.. some people paid as much as 20k for a few changes.. people had money, so they gave money.
Here on Chimaera, everyone is new. Nobody takes into consideration that I am one of, if not THE highest ID only 1 box away from Master... so I have had to pay for almost every single box of my training, which is not easy at this stage. They think because ID costs nothing to do, that there is no point in paying for it..
So far almost 90% of the people I've helped have walked away without giving me a dime. This ticks me off. I know people are new and I don't expect anyone to break themselves to pay me but god even 50 credits is better than nothing!
So.. for this, I will be forced to make a price list *Sigh* Which I really hadn't wanted to do.
Bah!
Anyway.. can I get some advice on pricing please?
Thanks
Wow AWESOME job on your website
You have done so much work, and all of those clothes as well
The only thing I noticed was that you had "bust" by torso. Just to point out that the torso slider works for males on test center now (as in char creation) so soon it will be available to customize male chest size. I'm so impressed, I love your site, so warm and inviting
Oh and GRATS on Master ID
Good luck with you business!
Wow thank you! I had a look at your ID guide as well and all I can say is WOW, so much info!
My website isn't quite finished yet but when I get the links page up do you mind if I put yourguide on there?
I would like to share my pricelist with you. It can be found here:

I work with these prices since the beginning and they have a high acceptance on Gorath.
I use a very flexible pricing scale. Since I'm one of the older IDers on Bloodfin, I stopped working cantinas and I usually just work on referrals. Since most tip very well, I don't have a set pricing scheme, but if someone is not sure how much is acceptable, I usually quote this:
1k for a simple hairstyle change (if they know what they want)
2k-3k for a hairstyle if they took a while. hehe.
2k-3k for tattoos or markings
4k for body changes
1k for each facial change.
I usually do hair color changes and make-up changes for about 500 credits or so.
But, I also factor time into my quotes. If someone says "I want the last male hairstyle. The spiky one.", I'm going to quote less than the one who says "Show me every hairstyle three times each" then picks the last one.
Mine is pretty similar to Kwee's. It works pretty well and I haven't had any complaints. Many people just have never worked with an Image Designer before.
But I like your pricing scheme. It's good for a new economy. It lets the newer players get hair color changes and makeup changes easily, while having to save up for a tan. ![]()
