Thread: Making Bald...Exploit or not
In my opinion, and I could be wrong, I would say no. An exploit is defined as (and I don't have the language in front of me) using a bug for the purpose of unfair advantage. I don't see this as an unfair advantage because it doesn't give you anything you shouldn't already have (i.e. the fact that we can't make people bald is a bug, not a game feature). What was an exploit was 1) being able to give inter-species hairdos and 2) being able to give hairdos for which you do not qualify yet in terms of skill. In this case, you qualify in terms of skill to make someone bald.
Now, if you performed this bald workaround on a species that is not supposed to be bald (taking the ridges off a trando's head and leaving him with a scaley scalp perhaps) then yes, that would be an exploit, because I think that it gives someone an unfair advantage to have something that nobody else can get by legitimate means. But, if a species can select bald in the character creation menu, I don't think it's an exploit to use a bug to return that character to bald later. There is no unfair advantage because humans who selected bald in character creation are running around.. bald.
Again, I could be wrong - I'm not a CSR or a dev, but that is just my take on the situation. Many well-respected veteran image designers also share this interpretation.
It is a bug used to work around another bug. We are supposed to have bald as an option, but we don't. It isn't being used to achieve something that you shouldn't be able to do. Even the most uninformed CSR isn't likely to get upset with you over it. I doubt that they would even notice.
Using the bald trick on a non human, on the other hand, is an exploit akin to the cross-species hairstyles.
