Hi all!
Ok maybe this is just me because im a pompus B!tch but does anyone else just absolutely cringe when they hear "ID tent" it makes me feel like a second rate circus freak. Its called a salon on the overhead map, and it feels much more profesional but why does everyone insist on calling it a tent? maybe its just me taking too much pride in my beloved profession.

Bleh, I really really wanted a solid building, and am disappointed with the tents. They look nice on the inside, but really - when was the last time you went to a salon that was not cozy with a real door and some privacy?

Jessi,I totally agree. first of all, the placement could be better. I'm usually in Theed, so we get the overflow of chatter (and spam) from the cantina. we also get the traffic going in and out of the cantina, which means noise from bikes and speeders, people running across the steps on the way by, etc. it also seems to be a frequent meeting place - a potential customer will run in, and when asked if they can be helped, the response is, more often than not, "no, I'm just waiting for someone." I think if we weren't so close to the cantina, and had a door, we would be much better off.
As for the 'tent' issue...it looks like a tent, and people just know they can go there to get ID'ed. I bet they don't even bother to check the actual name lol. Thus, it becomes the ID tent.

People say 'tent' partly because it resembles so much the merchant tents. Which are actually named merchant tents, unless I'm mistaken.

I actually like the "tent" aspect of it. I think a building set apart from everything with a door would make me feel more isolated. Unless, of course, it was MY building! 
If it is just the description of "tent" rather than salon... I like tents more than salons myself. But I may be biased by my Ranger background.

I think if I did have an ID building I could place I would love for it to be a supersized tent like the current salons. Especially if I could put pillows on the floor like in Bestine. It seems more unique and attractive then the generic Corellian houses I would be stuck with otherwise. They make me feel claustrophibic.

Iam reasonably happy with them. A tent was an odd choice to me but,I don't see it a sleight.I think they are some of the most exotic structures out there.
As for the cantina bleed over goes,I see it as good and bad. Some IDs get very bored just sitting alone in the salon. It allows them to keep some contact with the cantina community we usually have pretty strong ties to. At least in Theed, the end of the Salon you are in can determine whether you will "hear" the cantina goings-on.

Indeed, the cantina overflow can be good. I often chat with and /emote at my friends in the cantina while I'm working in the salon. The part that bothers me is the people who stand in the cantina and say/shout randomness. I don't mean the AFK spammers, because I have most of those on ignore. It's not that big of a problem, because I can always retreat to guild or groupchat - just an observation.

Salon is the name u'll find in your map but ppl know it's the IDing place and it's a tent so many find it easy for them to be called the IDtent.
For me i got two char on two servers ( both ID ) Eclipse and Farstar, what i noticed is that Theed in farstar look like a dead city if u compare it to Theed on eclipse which is filled with life.
I get loads of ID business on eclipse salon then what i get in Coronet salon on farstar.
The mosty funny things is when u need an ID( even novice to do stat migration for your self ) u can't find any or u'll find 2-3 but they are afk dancing/playing music in the cantina.
And when u head to the Salon to earn some money u'll find 2-5 ID there 1-2 are Master, it's ok as each got his shoot and many time we work toghter all group and divid the customer between us. And if there is none we help those who are grinding ID by letting them Stat migrat us.
