This is exactly why I have temporarily stopped teaching ID on my galaxy until after the patch. I was bombarded with tells yesterday asking for ID training from players who did not have enough money to buy all the skill boxes but wanted to cash in on the mini publish. *sad sigh*

Do you really think there is that much to cash in on that people will be flocking to ID? I am definately not doing this for the money, I liked ID and now that there is more to do in it I wanted to give it another shot.
Welcome back! There are a lot of new fun things in this publish, so it should be interesting if the major bugs are fixed. As far as people flocking to ID for the money, I heard one new "master ID" say that she was looking forward to making 2 or 3 million in the first few days. People are joining the ID ranks in order to make sure they master it for their jedi slot in time, but they are definitely keeping it to "cash in" for a week or so. What bothers me the most about this right now (except the fact that I put a lot of effort into learning how to image design and no one will know the difference between me and someone who just picked it up yesterday and doesn't know what they are doing at all) is the fact that the devs are going to be monitoring the situation and making adjustments. They won't be seeing how it really works, though! They will see crowded tents full of image designers happily designing away and making money, but when the initial rush dies off and most of the money goes away, those people will drop and we will be back to our tiny population again.
Well thank you for the welcome. I plan on keeping ID from now till I quit the game this time. I wonder how many of these "new" ID'ers are people returning to the profession like me and how many are actually new. The funny part is that ID is a holo for Durnik who is my Ahazi character but I have never done holo professions so he isn't the one I mastered ID with.

Well... I, for one, mastered ID last night. I'd gotten 4/4/4/4 Sunday night. Going to keep it at least for several weeks - probably for good. I'd sooner drop MCH, at this point. And this is no holo-grind, because I was an MID before and only dropped it to pick up enough combat skills to make getting MCH a quicker process.
I'm looking forward to the new interface and color pallettes more than anything. Personally, I really couldn't care less about those 'holo-emotes'. And I assume those are what were being talked about as "particle effect" stuff. Ah well. I'm sure I'll play with them a time or two.
Anyhow, not all of us who just ground to MID are doing it "to cash in on the first week". I'm my guild's ONLY MID and with the stat migration stuff, I'll actually have a half of a purpose.
And for the record, Brandy and good canapes does the trick too. Without downers.
Hmm... You know, they ought to have just made ALL professions this hard to master (timer/new xp), then hologrinding would have actually been a CHALLENGE. ![]()

No. I don't think that all of the people who became MIDs this week are there to cash in. I am very certain that a large number of them are hoping to, though. The good thing is that a lot of people who dropped ID for other professions are now in a hurry to come back!

I'm not overly concerned. I'm a DAMN good image designer (was recently voted best ID on my server in an informal poll, LOL) and while there will be lots of new MID's around come patch day, the people they screw up will all come to me. More lifetime clients!
I am not so threatened by them. They will eventually come to me or another lifetime ID and see what the experience is really like. It may take awhile since some people seem to have a lot of trouble realizing they they look really messed up, but eventually it will happen. As I said before, I am more worried that the devs will monitor the situation for a few days and think that what they see is normal. I am certain that it will be anything *but* normal for a few weeks.
