Thread: On Timers…

As we all know, timers are intimately tied to XP gain in the new image designer advancement model. Something you may not have considered, though: we are, all of us, impatient people at heart. We dislike the thought of being delayed in performing design sessions, and so do our customers. So what happens if we get what we want and timers are removed for master image designers? Everyone seeks out only masters, not only because we have the largest color arrays, but also because we can commit more changes in a significantly shorter period of time. This further devalues low-level image designers, making a hellacious grind to master that much worse for lack of any interested customers.

I have posted in the past with ideas of how to reduce timers for masters. I stand by those ideas, but only in as much as they are what the community is interested in. For myself, until low-level image designers are in more demand, or have the self-ID penalty removed, I am content to keep our timers, even to the point of asking that we get no reduction as masters to aid those budding designers to reach mastery that much sooners.

(Please note that these views are expressed in anticipation of hologrinding becoming a thing of the past; this is purely out of concern for future masters who will have a hard enough time as-is, and need no further stumblingblocks placed in their path.)

The problem is if you don't have a big enough brick or can't find the right head. The devil is in the details.

Honestly, what I'd like to see for timers is something that'll do it instantly for the customer, and then we have to wait for a little bit before IDing again. If we can get a customer done in one fell swoop (I haven't used the new ID interface so I don't know how it works) then they can walk away happy. And the happier a customer is, the happier my bank account is. And the wait is still there on the ID end so it inhibits grinding out the profession so mindlessly.

The other thing I'd like to see is speed negated for Master ID's or speed reductions scattered through the skill boxes. Like bodyform 3 gets a 15% speed increase, and faces 4 gets a 15% speed increase ... I think I remember someone saying something like that was done for CH's, so you didn't have a tree of CH level and weren't a novice CH running around with a bull rancor in your back pocket.
