Thread: I THINK THIS TO BE IMPORTANT !!!

i have been seeing some talk on here about some of you ID ppl charging by the minute to help someone..

thats all well and good and more power to you...

but i just want to point out something about it...

i think that if your only going to do that, that its only fair if before you help the person you make sure they UNDERSTAND you charge by the minute.. and be SURE that they know what they want ahead of time...

and include in your advertising spam or whatever you are going to do.. that you have a macro list set up.. that says all the things you CAN change.... just so people know...

i know thats all probably common sense and most of you were going to do it anyways.. but i KNOW that when decided a look for your character that it takes awhile to get something you are happy with...

also i think its important that unless the person has at least a good idea of what they want to look like that you tell them to come back later when they have decided upon something.. otherwise you will be getting people that will sit there and stare at the new window and just not be sure at all of what they want.. sure its good if you charge by the minute.. but its still more profit if you can help multiple people quickly =/

also just better for business in general

It's not exactly a change "by the minute" as such. The various changes have a minimum change time applied to them. A body change for example takes a 10 minutes (I think) - however the player can have many ID changes applied during this forced 10 minute window. It is the types of changes being applied which will continue to be the main driving force in pricing.

Also, any Image Designer who has been in the trade for a while knows only too well about the people who do not know what they want and just want us to cycle through all the changes possible. In the past this could have been done - now with 200 colours I am NOT going to cycle through the possible changes for hours. I would hope that the image design preview websites will be updated soon and my fellow professionals will be able to direct these confused people (as I hate to think they are all time-wasters) to them to find out what they want.

We are not trying to waste your time. But sadly we have no in-game way to know what we have avalible in the way of colors, styles, or anything.

It's this lack of knowlage that forces us todepend on the ID for basic info about what changes can be made. Directing players to a out of game website is fine for those of us that use the web for game info, we are doing that know.

But many, many playrs do not use the web, thay only play the game, and only have you, the ID for any info on the changes at all. The devs kinda screwed you, they made you do what should be in the manual. All the possible changes should be accessable in the game, or char creation screen.

But they are not. So we depend on you, our ID's to be nice, even when we are a pain in the rear. Without you, I could not turn my nephews tall blond zabby into a short fat bowling ball. Than turn him back after the fun wore off.

So please bear with us as we window shop. Admit it, you tried all the changes, or at least looked at em. We want to too!

Sorry fella's but I've got to agree with Mystaria.
If you don't know what you want you may just be out of luck.

Cycling through 200+ colors for hair markings and other things? Forget about it, I don't have that kind of time and somehow I doubt you do. If you're going to come ask for a change you need to atleast know you want a certian color. Cycling through one color from like dark green to neon we could probably do, but I don't know any IDer who will willingly sit their with one customer for heaven only knows how long cycling through hundreds of colors.

I mean, if someone comes to me with no clue what he/she wants and asks me to cycle through it all? Forget it, I can find other customers that will have atleast some idea of what they want.

Visit the image design sites and try and get a basic idea of what you want before coming to see us, no matter how much we love our profession, we can't go spending hours on one person.

Actually, besides new hairstyles and the stuff from this publish, all the changes were available on character creation.
