Thread: Droid/ImagingTerminal/Salon Why not all three?
* More starport ad's clogging things and stepping up lag another three notches. Heck, two people start PvP'ing near the starport and I run away so the lag doesn't client-crash me. We don't need to add to lag pollution.
* Making the Salons obsolete entirely (as THE social profession, ID socializing is more than just ID-client, it's ID-ID and client-client as well in the salons).
* Where will the noobs go? If Joe Trandoshan can get a stat migration from you the moment he steps off the starport steps, why would be bother going to anyone else? Salons are there for noob ID's to meet and get to know the masters, and they provide a much greater opportunity for learning from masters rather than going to NPC's to get trained. It's also the best place to go (ahem... aside from the forums!
* (In my experience) ID is one of the nicest professions to get into. Master ID's are usually more than willing to help out new ID's, teach them, and let them get the customers they can help than any other profession. I like being an ID because I don't have to be so derned cut-throat as you have to be for most of the other professions (maybe the medics/doctors have us beat on this, I don't know). Stepping up ID with droids is just going to make it a more antagonistic market.
* The salons provide an understood place where people can go to find an ID. I've gotten requests to migrate stats from people when I wasn't even remotely near a salon... I've gone, but I didn't always like it. If we were given droids that allowed migration outside the tent I'd go springingly out of my mind by the torrent of /tell's I'd get to migrate on the spot wherever I was.
I don't like the droid idea. I don't want the same happening with ID's as with Docs, sitting in front of the starport shouting "Stats migration, 10k, form a queue....". I don't want to be a stats migration bot, the ID salons give some nice atmosphere to calm down a bit and interact with other players.
I don't see the need to do everything outside of the salon. The trend getting every service always and everywhere hurts the game, as well as instant travelling does and remote purchasing would have done (luckily the devs have given up that idea). It all leads to less interaction and we have not enough interaction for a MMORPG already.

Droid - No SM available ¤t salon value time for all other imaging.
Camps/ID Terminals for player structures - 10m for SM & current salon value time for all other imaging
NPC/Player Salon - 4m for SM & current salon value time for all other imaging

What would you need a droid for then? You can do all changes anywhere except stats migration anyway. The waiting time outside a salon is acceptable for a Master ID, because for most style changes the clients need longer to tell you, what they want, than the timer is.
yeah, but non masters cannot do ID outside of salons .. see, I dont think only of myself when im posting hun, I think of what it was like to get where I am and think of those in that position.

Of course they can. Cosmetic changes need 1 min. and for body changes it's 2 min. for non-Masters. In tents it's 30 sec. and 1 min. I don't really see a point in buying a droid for a non-master just to save a max. of 1 min., when the customer needs 5 min. to tell you, what he wants.
And, as you say

This sounds like you want to tell me I do that. Be sure, I don't.

sorry, when it has been some time since i leveled id, i had forgotten about this - but even a salon timer droid (though basically useless) would be considered a perk if nothing else.
I would not regard such a useless droid as any kind of perk... and a droid that did not provide full function (both timer reduction and stat migration) would be worthless. No one in their right mind would waste their credits on one. The timers are short enough even outside the salon and for non-masters that there would be absolutely no point in a droid that did not allow stat migrations outside of the salon. I know that I for one would never waste the droid slot (you can only have 5 in your data-pad) on such a useless droid. Better to get a storage mouse... at least one of those would have a use.
Actually, NONE of the options would be worth bothering withif they did not provide full functionality (i.e. both timer reductions and stat migration capability). I do real ID work outside of the salons all the time and only bother going to one if a customer wants a stat migration.

lol touchy - that is not what i was implying hun. i assumed that by your previous statement ... "What would you need a droid for then? You can do all changes anywhere except stats migration anyway. The waiting time outside a salon is acceptable for a Master ID, because for most style changes the clients need longer to tell you, what they want, than the timer is." ... in conjunction with the fact that I had forgotten about the timer for non master ID outside the tents will help you better understand that this was so not an attack on you by any means, it was merely me trying to defend myself as I thought you were asking me specifically "what would YOU need a droid ... ".
