Thread: New Idea for IDs
What if we could give people custom titles? It could be either player made or from a pre-determined list. I'd kill for a (Stormtrooper) title or one that says (Scoundrel).
Might be kinda cool, eh?
That's an interesting idea that has popped up in the past. You can be sure that should a thing ever be implemented, they would not allow playermade titles. I could see where you could say that a special title could be part of your image per say if we are looking at an ID as a sort of Public Relations person, but so far the image part of Image Designer has been strictly your physical image. For the idea to work I imagine you'd have to qualify for some type of special title maybe by mastering two professions or hitting some kind of gcw goal... I was reading a thread yesterday where someone was requesting that rank titles be optional. A related idea that has come up before is that of allowing Image Designers to change last names, though I doubt that would ever be allowed and I can see why
Daoc did allow you to pick your own last name by seeing an npc which I suppose had a filter on it. They could I guess also send ID's submissions through a filter. I would guess though that if you were to ask any given Image Designer they would probably say they had other things higher on their wish lists
I'm rooting for body tattoos!
Thank you for sharing your idea ![]()
Well, I'm not sure if changing the last name would be a big deal, slap me if I'm missing something obvious
. There is an in game namefilter already in place for pets, so why they couldn't extend it to player surnames, I'm not sure. Admittedly though, some people might end up abusing it, just as there are always a bunch of immature people who get a kick out of forcing obscenity into this game in some way or another. And in that respect, it could result in more work for the CSR, who'd have to go around fixing more bad names.
Surnames could be chosen by the players themselves in EQ once they had hit level 20, so I think it shouldn't be too difficult to implement. I do agree though that it would in no way be a priority for me. I'd be more interested in custom titles, but I think that's unrealistic. Can't see them allowing players custom titles, would also be abused, and eventually, no one would understand what profession which player belongs to. Which would mess up their Search option as well, and make finding trainers more difficult.
