Thread: These Timers are Horrible

1 full min to process a cosmetic change inside a tent as MID. Not a big deal, since you have to spend the time making all the necessary changes anyway.

2.5 full mins to process a physical change. Less pleasant.

But even as MID and in the tent it still takes 10 full minutes of standing here doing NOTHING while waiting for the stat migration to process.

What idiotic thought went into this? How is this supposed to be fun? If a timer is necessary, apply it to the customer only! Don't tie down the MID with the timer.

I am a master ID. Why must I wait 2 minutes to apply a holo emote? This is just plain ridiculous. I'm not grinding, there is no need to limit how fast I can apply ID effects. Stat migration I understand, but standard ID features? Why a time limit at master at all?

As a master ID, I think I can field this one. It wouldn't be fair, even though we don't need the grind xp, to the new guys coming up if we could make a thousand changes instantly. Then you'd have the novice sitting in the corner wondering why nobody wants an ID done by him because they'd have to wait two minutes. Suddenly masters would be in high demand and the novices would be screwed.

Wouldn't a 30s wait be more reasonable? I've only just logged in, and now I'm also noticing that every time I apply another change, it adds another 2.5mins to the time !!!! this is stupidity at its finest...

I agree that the timers take a bit of the fun out of it, especially at ten minutes for stats. Ick. But I love everything else!!!

And the more that I think about it now, this is even more ridiculous. IF I must wait 2 minutes, why would I choose to go to anything less than a master anyway? If non-masters were to charge less for their services, then they would get more business. A master should charge more because they can provide the full range faster.

No, this has nothing to do with economics and everything to do with poor design.

Okay okay, I understand why they are doing this... to stop people from grinding to Master ID in 3 hours or getting unlimited AP points by teaching and surrending Image Design I over and over for 20 AP each teaching.

If that's not the main reason why, then they pretty much killed anyone's chances (Especially the poor holo-grinders who get ID) at wanting to Master ID. All this will do to the profession is that anyone that's already a Master ID will get rich (I'm chargin 50k just for changing a person and 100k if there's a 10 minute wait, if they aren't happy, they can Decline and leave me alone) and whoever wants to become a MAster ID now will grind for countless hours and days and maybe weeks or months.

I agree with a 30-60 second wait... I mean 1 minute waiting to grind 50-100 XP is very decent. Any combat professions can make 20k XP per minute (Janta lairs hehe) so why can't ID do the same?

The timers should stay.

Doctors have to wait 3 minutes per person they buff, and it requires work and resources beforehand.

Why should Image Designers get to do their thing without delay or resources being used?

Timers prior to master are fine. Mastering a profession in 45 mins is silly. Hologrinders will no longer be a concern in a month, so there wont be any poor holo grinders getting ID. ID's need to make money too, I've migrated my stats probably 3 times in the last year. I think the fee is warrented.

Combat profs can make 20k xp per min sure, but they have to gain 1.2 million xp per branch, and spend 10 mins per run getting missions and travelling to them. ID only has 100k per branch. It's like comparing apples and oranges. For a master who has no reason to grind xp to have to wait to apply an effect, well, there is no reason for this.

An image design in no way enhances your combat prowess, or any skill you have!!

If a person was ona guild hunt and in the middle of a firefight and their buffs suddenly drop, thedelay stopsa docapplying a full set off buffs to someone instantly to save them from dying. Thus the time between buffs can make a life or death difference. The result of an image design has no such importance.
