I'd like to post a few things about my first day experiencing the new world of Image Design. I've been spending most of the day in Theed in the Image Design tent together with about three to five other Image Designers. We almost had to work FULL TIME and there even were waiting lists. I have never felt as needed andthought after with any other profession that I have played. I know this will most likely calm down a big deal in the week ahead, but right now I am enjoying the new state of the profession.
The new User Interface is AWESOME as it allows people to see the changes that the Image Designer is making. I love it! The new colors are great as well, even though it's sometimes a bit hard to browse through them (too many hair colors). I'm also a bit disappointed that there wasn't any new art included. New haircuts, styles and tatoos are greatly thought after and would have given our profession yet another kick. The holo emotes are nice, but I'm not sure if people will still use them in two months. Right now they have that big "ohhhhhh"-effect, but sooner or later people just get used to it.
I'm still a bit curious on pricing my image design. To see what people are willing to pay I decided to work on tips yesterday to get a feel on how valued our profession is. My results? I'm just as clueless as I was before. I got tips reaching from 5k for stat migration (ugh) to 50k for all the holo emotes. Some fellow ID's charge 30k for stat migration, but that seems a bit high too me. Maybe 10k or 15k as a maximum?
I think it would be great to have a common set list of prizes available that every (or many) ID's could use. That way we could avoid "But-ID-X-only-charged-X-credits-for-it!"-situations. I don't want to rip off people, but I also think that our commitment to design and last but not least the time that invest is worth something. After all WE are creating a new look for them that makes them feel better about their character. How maby credits is that worth?
It's priceless.
