Hello Image Designers,

I have consulted the FAQ but it's not really giving me the answers I need so here goes.

  1. Say I have an ID session and major changes to my height, build etc are made; I like them so I pay and off I go. If some time later (days or weeks even) I wish I had not made these changes, is it possible to revert back to my original character look?

  2. Is there something that IDs can see, such as a list of settings or something, that I could take to another server such that a "clone" could be created? I'm thinking of starting afresh on a new server but I'm very attached my current character and his looks. I'd like to create a new Wook, recreate my current looks as close as possible and then get an ID to finish the job. Can this be done?

Many thanks in advance.

To my knowledge I am afraid the answer to both your questions is no hun unfortunately. If you take a screenshot of your character, or even several with close ups for the face and such, a good image designer could probably rebuild using that as a guide if you took the screenies ahead of time. There really aren't any settings for us to revert to though, unless you change your mind in the middle of the ID session for your change in the first place

I think the only way to create an exact clone of your original character, is try to memorize the settings of all those sliders while you create your char and then try to make the new char acordingly.
We IDs cannot help you there, since we don't have numbers on those sliders or color-palettes yet. There are not even names on the hair-styles in our interface. Some very creative players have invented names for them and put up some very nice Web-sites, but this won't help with your clone-idea, I think.

We all hope the devs give our interface another small workover to add some helps like numbers on those sliders and the like.

Many thanks for your quick replies. Alas, I had hoped that being ID's you would see numbers or other such pieces of information in order to aid the creation of similar looks.

One last question then I guess. If I were to visit an ID, will either of us be able to see the position of the sliders for my character as I am now? I'm thinking I could take a series of screen grabs to help me during my character recreation process.

Thanks again,

- Ymo

We used to be able to do this.A long time ago us ID's talked the devs into adding numbers to all the slider settings so we could use them as a reference in recording settings etc. This was a great player generated feature that was very useful to the profession & remains to this day one of the best things that ever happened to the ID profesion. But in a gross oversight they removed them in the last mini-publish, & as much as we have begged for them to be put back in we haven't heard a peep out of the devs.

If we heard something it'd be "The UI Team is busy with JTL, we might be able to do something after that is done."

So true... but on the other side: I'm really curious about JTL and nearly cannot wait to fly out in space myself... priorities, priorities... it's all about that *sigh*

Some hope though.

Most likly the UI team will be freed before JTL is released. The UI shouldn't need "significant work" after JTL gets to beta stage [and before release].

Yes, I really hope the UI-team will find some time soon to have another look at our interface. They allready worked wonders with it and I'm really thankfull for it, but just this little numbers and maybe a way to enlarge the color-palette so that you don't need magnifying glasses to use em and many of us will be very gratefull

Wookiees have like four screens (I think). If an ID took a capture of each of the screens (eyes and nose, fur, body, face) and sent them to you, you could give the screens to an ID on your new server. We used to have numbers to reference things and now we don't, but there shouldn't be any reason you couldn't reference from the slider positions.

A bit around-the-corner, so to say, but it could work.

I am rarely accused of doing things the easy way.
