Thread: Bodypaint Just For Entertainers...?
Well, currently the Ranger conceal doesn't touch on faction at all. I think faction tattoos were brought up in one of Kwee's last "what if" threads, I need to go back and reread it to see if the idea was ever explained more, but I was guessing that it might be something to help get around TEF, or keep you covert, or fakea faction. If that's so, that would be really cool and totally unique. Could work for body paint too I guess.
I wouldn't say that conceal is the Ranger's main difference from scout, I think Tracking is the most defining difference since Camo Kits are really an extension of Maskscent. Still though, don't want to step on anyone's toes! How about an ID camo feature that just added to the Ranger's conceal, so you'd need a Camo Kit to activate the ID Camo. The ID Camo could maybejust extend the area or length of time of the Ranger camo. That would still be a cool thing and would promote interclass interaction.
But....isn't the Ranger conceal still pretty flakey and wouldn't this work better with an item or a tattoo since Body Paint is being done just like a skin tone? My understanding was that it was really just a palette extension and the unnatural colors where being justified as "body paint." Or will they be a whole new option separate from skin tone? If they are a whole new option, will all races get the same colors?

Thereis amajor difference between maskscent and conceal, that being a Ranger can conceal other players. The other significant difference is that it requires a crafted camoflage kit (there are different ones for each planet), and these kits usually require organic resources that are difficult to gather that specific to that planet. My major issue was if IDs had a way to give the same benefit to other players, while not exposing the ID to the dangerordifficulty that's required to make acamo kit, it wouldn't be fair to Rangers. However, if this was geared only towards factional, oreven NPCs in general,I don't see it as aproblem.Since conceal only works against agressive creatures.
But SWG has a lot of "cross-over" skills - Chefs can make stat-boosting food. Smugglers can make stat-boosting spices. Doctors can give stat boosts. Entertainers can give stat boosts.
By your logic, shouldn't non-CHs be banned from using all pets?
It's all about degrees of usefulness.
