Okay... so I haven't been the most ACTIVE player lately, but I see a major drop in clients lately. Like, I used to have to turn my MID tag off in big cities to avoid hordes of work... now I can go days without a single tell.

And it's not like I'm being spliffed. To my knowledge I'm only on one person's /ignore list, and that's not only mutual but unrelated to ID. I've got a few regulars (one of which is RP'ing into her third trimester of pregnancy right now. Weight up ten, chest up one... etc, etc, etc.)

I hope we get attention soon. A 'new content' patch note would REALLY do ID'ers some good right now. I don't want to end up alone and destitute painting faeries and tree's like that guy in Tatooine behind that starport....

LOL I love the idea of playing out a pregnancy. I wish we could actually LOOK pregnant... although, maximum weight for females is pretty darn close.

Anyway... I have two characters. One is a master doctor; the other is a master ID/master dancer. I get far, far more business with my doc than my entertainer. This is due partly to the fact that anytime I take out my droid in the starport, I'm immediately besieged by people asking if I can buff them. I went through nearly an entire pack of buffs last night just from pulling out my droid to buff a friend. The same isn't true of Master ID. I can have a random client in the cantina or near the starport, and I don't get a clamoring of people saying "Oh, can you change my hair" or "I need to be shorter". Even if I have my master ID title up - which is rare - my customers are few and far between.I think this is due in part to a couple of reasons:

1.) People seem to be more combat oriented than ever. Due in part to new caves opening up, balancing of combat professions, etc. people are more concerned with that than their looks. Also, if you're wearing armor 24/7 it doesn't really matter how you look, LOL.

2.) People have been playing the game for a LONG time and have become known for a certain "look".

3.) We don't have any sort of "item" (i.e. droid) that lets people know IMMEDIATELY that we're an image designer, other than our titles. On Fuschia, I wear a pistoleer title (Dead-Eye), but the minute I don the healer's robe and pull out McDroid (he's red and yellow!) people crowd around me for buffs.

4.) Lack of new content, which will hopefully be remedied very soon and give us back our customers in droves.

There's my 2 credits. Now, can someone change my markings...?

Most players settle in on a look and dont require weekly or even monthly changes. In the beginning, we could offer styles and changes that werent available at creation, but the influx of new players has declined, and we dont have any thing new to offer, so......we languish. Maybe with the new ideas coming from the art team we might once again be in demand, but I wont get my hopes up just yet.

Meanwhile, I too play a TKM/Doc on another server, its a lot more fun anyway.

Jake Rodgers' Letter to the Community
I'm happy to have another opportunity to say hello. My name is Jake Rodgers- Art Director of Star Wars Galaxies. For those of you who have been with the game since the beginning, you've seen many, many changes- we thank you for being part of the journey. If you're just joining us- welcome, and let me say you have only seen the beginning...

After the launch of the game last June, we didn't slow down. We had very high expectations of what we wanted to create, to finish what we thought would complete the foundation. In short, we've created a universe full of possibility- a place where you can not only live in the Star Wars universe, but you can chose from an array of professions, drive your own landspeeder, build your own house, and even be mayor of your own city.

We have gained new focus in our production process and our publish cycles. We now are making publishes more concentrated, more focused, and more thematic, so we can really combine the efforts of art, programming, and design. It has been such a rewarding experience to not only work with the development team, but with you as well. Having the community more and more involved has been a very positive experience, and has made the game immensely better.

We've been planning for the next several months with these things in mind, and it just keeps getting more exciting. What is next for the art team? The space expansion, for one. You'll see images from the space expansion soon. We have been busy designing and building all the ships you'd expect to see, and many you've never seen before. Soon you'll not only see them, you'll be able to craft, customize, and fly them!

In the next several publishes, you should also expect to see new art going in with each profession revamp. The first pass will be for Image Designers, but you can also expect new dance animations, clothing, armor, weapons (lots of weapons!), furniture, droids, mounts, some great new bunkers and caves, and some very special surprises coming as well.

Once again, we hope to go beyond your expectations for the look of the game. See you there...

/wave
