Thread: Concern about Publish 8 and ID XP

Hi there, I just saw the list of new things in the pipeline for Image Designers and Im really happy with the planned new things for us to do.

Im just concerned that with the xp situation the way it is (anyone can master ID in a few hours, even one report on these boards of someone making master in 22 mins) its kinda going to make the newcolours and hairstylesvery common very quickly.

With all these new additions it will attract new players to the profession (which isnt a bad thing). But what happens when regular players find its easier to grind to master so they can design themselves rather than employing a full time Image designer?

Anyone know if they are looking into making the journey to Master ID a little longer than 22 mins? Seems with these new chef buffs (esp Brandy) our profession is by far the easiest to master in the game.

The lead live designer (Runesabre) recently posted he was having a dev look into the exp issue. Hopefully it can be adjusted by Publish 8.

I'd expect that the new interface will add in a much longer time delay than the current system since both parties have to click accept and such. As a result, exp gain will be much slower even if it is gained at the same rate per change.

The new HAM system (as I understand it)may play into this issue as well. But despite my blue title, I really have no insider info about the combat balance, so this is pure non-correspondent speculation.

I think the main reason that people won't grind up ID just to work themselves is because of SP. Most players by now are running low on skill points, and I'm fairly sure the Bounty Hunters and Teras Kasi's of the galaxies aren't gonna drop their mastery's for a new haircut.

Hehe…my thoughts exactly. Sure, you can grind ID in 20 minutes…but try to get commando back in that time. Or worse yet, weaponsmith or armorsmith or…

With the new UI I would not be surprised if all/imagedesignsetvalue are removed. Of coure I would not be surprised if all/imagedesignsetvalue stayed ether. I'm sure there will be a change, they may be stealthy about it so hundreds of players don't grind just before it's patched live.

Aw man…if all that work I did (with lots of help—thanks Kwee!) on an /imagedesignSetValue argument/value list is negated I'm'a be so annoyed… (it's been updated to include MonCals and Wooks, by the way… see?)

ID loving and a stealth grinding nerf tucked in under it.

Yes, but think of all the work it would save you, because you would not need to update it when they expand all the palettes. But they may fix the XP gain by adding a timer to setvalue, or a hunred other ways, including ways that will surprise us. And the XP gain issue may not even be addressed until publish 9 or 10.

Voor…I don't know whether to be relieved, or upset by that. *laughs*

That's my take as well.
