Just my opinion, but I'd rather be able to decide what changes are being made to my character. Every detail.

Well... I can understand that request quite good from the clients point of view. However with a good Image Designer that is just how it should be. I usually only change what a client requests of me and sometimes (rather rarely) offer advise what else might be changed. So the choice of the client should be the major part of the image-design-process. After all, you only really see what a hairstylist has done to you, after s/he is done in the real world, too.
And after all a really good Image Designer will usually be somebody with a good view for shapes and colours, who will probably be able to guide you better towards the image (as in character-concept) you design due to personal ability and experience with the available options.
If you were to use all sliders yourself, we can eliminate the Image Designer profession and add all functions of master level to the player menu and be done with it.

I understand your viewpoint, but if you fully think it thru you will understand why it can not be that way. If you got full control of every detail the IDer would be doing nothing and would mean you are asking for the removal of the profession. Also I bet you would like control of every detail of your clothing, weapons, armor, food, med buffs, etc. I mean who knows better then you on what you want, but that would also mean those professions would no longer be needed. leaving the game non-jedi combat and jedi combat characters, Hmm? Jedi would have too big of an advantage, so let just have Jedi PvP game

Good news friend, you can!![]()
Only problem is you have to communicate these personal decisions to your local (and very unappreciated) Image Designer. If you know what you want and can relay this information in a timely and comprehensible manner any ID worth their salt canassist you. If you're not sure what you want your ID can show you several "what ifs" through the use of the user interface. There may always be a few details not available to the ID community as of yet, butbe assured knowing our researchers are working hard to provide a more effective and pleasureable experience.

I am mixed on this.
Recently I've come to accept the view that it should be in the domain of the ID itself.
Allowing the client to select, reduces Image Designers to a Terminal/bot-esque profession.
We're a service profession, part of that service is intepreting the client's desires.

I don't make changes to my clients without the clientagreeing to them. If you don't like what's changed, don't accept it, the IDer doesn't get paid.

Standing in line waiting is fun Voor! Major Transportation Terminals across the world are increasing their customer's pleasure by incorporating long lines and waits.
Most of the people who've said similar about client-side functionality were victims of stylists who didn't have their heart into their work. (aka Hologrinder

Indeed, as someone said, you can become an ID yourself, and voila, you can change it all.
The clients I have always get the looks they want , for in the end, it's about what makes them happy as they have to walk around with the look.. however, I'll make suggestions as I'm an image designer, who enjoys her work, and making my clients look the best they can be... (or worst..had a few lately who wanted to look really ugly or bad.. ) If a client doesn't like what we do, they can refuse the work. I've also told clients if they don't like the changes, they can come back to me, and I'll change them, free of charge.
