I have a wonderful story for everyone, one that has had me smiling nonstop since yesterday afternoon.
First, some background. I started playing this game in early July, maybe a week or so after release. I didn't realize it at the time, but just about EVERYONE was a n00b (or at least restarting their characters). So, it happened that I just sort of fell into a circle of friends, all of us random professions and aspiring factions (none of us were good enough to run the missions successfully yet, LOL). We developed a habit of meeting online each night and running around together... usually going hunting, running missions, etc. Now, you have to understand that I am a terrible flirt. No one is safe from being /licked or /tackled by me, andthat isn't limited to men or even PLAYERS. I regularly /snog the ticket collector when I am waiting on shuttles. One of the guys in our group was married and would often talk about his wife. I became good friends with him in particular, but since I play with my boyfriend, there was never even a HINT of an issue of anything developing between us. Well, one morning I logged on to check some harvesters and saw that he was on... only it wasn't actually him, it was his wife. I was told in no uncertain terms to stay away from her husband. Naturally, I was upset, and told him when I spoke with him later that I didn't feel we should have contact any longer, at least not until she had apologized for her outrageous assumptions, etc etc. I was furious at the time, naturally, and probably said some things toboth of themthat were not exactly mature or necessary. I'm a rather hotheaded person anyway. Since then, she has gotten her own account and is a regular player. I tell you this to prepare for what happened to me this weekend.
I was in Theed yesterday (my home away from home) when I got a tell from a friend of mine asking if I could come to Coronet to ID him to suit his fiancee's tastes.

I normally don't travel, but for people close to me I'll make exceptions. So I went. He was in the cantina helping his fiancee get healing xp, and just wanted a few minor things changed - hairstyle, horn color, tattoo style. But while I was working on him, I got a tell from another player in the cantina. She said she had an 'odd request' and wondered if I could help her. I said "Sure, if it's possible. What did you need?" And she said "I want to look like another player here in the cantina." I know some of you hate copycat requests, but they don't bother me. If someone wanted to look just like me, I'd take it as a compliment. So I laughed and said "Sure. Who did you want to look like?" When she told me WHO, I nearly fell out of my seat. It was my old friend's RL wife, the one I'd had so many issues with in the past. My first thought was "She's going to think I'm doing this deliberately to make her angry" and because of that, I almost refused. But I thought "well, she can't possibly hate me any more than she does now." So I agreed. I spent about 30 minutes switching my /examine window between my client and my old nemesis, trying to make them look as similar as possible. When I was finished, the resemblance was uncanny. But it became apparent to me about halfway through the ID session that she realized what I was doing, and not long after, my client got a tell from her. But she was flattered, so that was a relief. Anyway, after I finished with my client, I asked her to stand next to her 'idol' so I could get a screenie. When she did, Rai (not her full name) laughed at her and I did the /cheer emote for both her and my client. As soon as I did that, I saw in my spatial chat "Fuschia, I'm so, so sorry for everything... really." I was FLABBERGASTED. I never, ever thought that I would be hearing those words from her. It's been six or seven months since I've spoken with either one of them, and I really thought I would never speak to my old friend again. But after that, she and I started chatting in tells, getting everything cleared between us and laying old ghosts to rest. She told me that she'd never playedan MMOG before, and that she didn't know that the emotes were just a fun thing for players to fool around with and that they didn't mean anything toanyone, and when she actually started playing herself she felt like an idiot for what had happened. Then she said "I think there's someone who would like to speak to you... talk to him." I had tears in my eyes as I messaged Kae for the first time in seven months. This guy was probably my best friend in game, and I never thought I'd talk to him again. I'm getting choked up now thinking about it, LOL.
Anyway, I thought everyone would like to hear that story. It makes my gameplay so much better to know that now I not only have my old friend back... I have a new one as well.

"You don't really rank around here unless you've been flamed by Oben, trolled by Mono, set straight by Geen, got caught in a love triangle between Cherry and Anoq, had your house decorated by Kipera, hugged by Esin, fondled by Fuschia, had IG respond with something inane and nonsensical, or at the very least been (a.) asked "can I have your stuff" or (b.) been accused of being a Todd by any number of random Tarquinian posters." --TalonKarrdeTN/Tyndaleon
