I was standing in the coronet starport last night getting a buff when someone walked up to me and asked if they could have their height changed for free. I was a little surprised and thought well, maybe this person is broke or something like that. I asked him why he couldn't pay for the Image Design..then he went on to say that he shouldn't have to pay for a height change because it has nothing to do with combat and wouldn't help him fight better..he shouldn't have to pay for such a change that was basically useless. I declined to alter his height and responded with..Well how in the world do you think Image Designers make money? lol. Seriously there are people out there that think this way..and it makes me a bit sad..and left feeling a little disappointed. I hope there aren't many out there that feel as this person did.
Some people feel this way, but they usually aren't worth our attention. They might be good fighters, but they will remain ugly forever.
Well, considering that for some people, there isn't any point in wasting your time trying to convince them their thinking is wrong; it is still disturbing that there are many players who think like that guy does. To those types, if after my initial rebuttal doesn't make a dent, I frown and tell them to move along.
However, I have had a couple guys with that exact request, and the added insult of it should be free because it's"useless" anddoesn't affect anything to do with combat. There is where I gape and flail at them.
"What do you mean it doesn't affect combat? Look at me! I'm very short and I am a hard target to hit when I kneel or go behind anything or simply run down into a shallow ravine. Being short makes me out of line of sight much easier than you giants. I can hide behind a rill and be out of line of sight. On the other hand, I also have a very tall character who can see over things a shorter person cannot. Makingher higher line of sight counteracttheir lower line of sight... So, don't tell me height is useless and doesn't affect combat effectiveness..."
A little BS works quite well as a sales tool, especially if there's a bedazzling bit of honest truth in it.
I've also found too much information can often stun your victim, err, client into submission. They cannot absorb the paragraphs of role play conversation, interspersed with technical jargon and buggy feature disclaimers, etc., and surrender to my intimidating prowess of uber chattiness, and they meekly submit to my ministrations. "Umm, k, i trust u. Just make me look cool." Heh, anything to make me shutup. ![]()

Yall do know that in PvP being smaller DOES help?
Especially if your enemy is like me and has names turned off unless you have the person selected, someone in their group selected, or move the mouse over them (which doesn't always work at a distance)
I got the first hit on this guy once 'cause he couldn't target me. I was too small and moving too fast.

Yep! Being a smaller target has helped me countless times. But since the person I am usually telling that too is usually much, much taller than I am and must think there's some other reason he couldn't hit me... ah well. I'll still "offer" the "combat perk" of being short.
I do have to grin though when everyone's bodies equalize when sitting or mounted. But unless you are beside someone much larger or smaller than you when you sit or mount up, you don't really notice it.
Speaking as the Gothan Bounty Hunter: Short in PvP is great. Most folks don't even see me till it is entirely too late.
As for the whole not paying as it does not help them fight how the heck do they explain buying shuttle tickets..a bike...etc
I would just tell them vanity isn't free.
I don't have set prices and when asked how much I charge, I reply that they can tip me for my time. I can usually spot right away which ones are going to tip and which ones are not. Also if the person is being a pain and has no idea what they want (I want the hair that goes up in front) I usually send them to an ID website and tell them to msg me when they see the hairstyle they want. I feel it's the same thing that RL hairdressers do, go look in the book and show me what you like.
