Thread: What's your motivation?

I have been playing this game since a week after release. Been an Image designer with every avatar I have ever had. There have been many a times when I have said "what's the point? Why do I bother logging in day after day?" I've come close to quitting and actually quit once (for 3 wks ) But something always drew me back. Wether it was good RP, love of the profession or curiosity about content in the next publish. I remember many a time I've said "I'm going to quit... but after I see the next publish" that started around the 2nd publish So.. in all this random babbling lies my question. I am curious to know... what is every one's motivation for playing SWG day in and day out. Especially since many of us have more than one char on more than one server. So there it is....



What's your motivation to play?

ID and Tailoring are relaxing for me Usually! My hubby says I'm really going to miss these unique professions when I switch to another game. He's afraid I'll never wnat to switch


Most of all I think what keeps me here is waht the devs have done with the community forums. Not just asking for our feedback but trying to incorporate it into what they feel is best for the game. And of course I'm having a lot of fun corresponding It's hard work but very rewarding, and it's been enlightening to see some of what happens behind the scenes. So much work, so many professions, so little time.

My motivation is Fun!!!

For me the key is not playing everyday day after day, instead I have two or three characters that I play, other games and tons of Real Life stuff. There are times when the thought of IDing makes me yawn, and other time when it is great fun. The great thing about SWG is that you don't have to play everyday to have fun playing it.

Hopefully, you won't switch for a long while. I'm hesitant to even LOOK at another MMO. However, as far as missing these profession-types goes, I think that professions such as these will be part of the legacy that SWG leaves on all next-generation MMO's that are being concepted right now. A shame that the Developers couldn't have launched with some super-cool content for us like the Combat's have, but you and NJ and TH and the other correspondents seem to be whipping those Dev's into shape!


As for me, I got this thing for video games, and as far as I can see, SWG has the most potential from a developement side. I've always like the design and developement aspects of games and I enjoy the chance SWG (as my first MMO) has to show me how a game may evolve over time for various reasons.

Yeh that's one of the only reason's I still play.. The community. I haven't found a social atmosphere like this in any other game yet. I dread the day that I actually cancel... because then I know I won't get to see so many people that I have met in the game. The community is what keeps this game going, for me at least. Like the other night we had 6 master musicians in coronet cantina all goofing around and buffing people. Things like that are what make the game fun to play that wouldn't happen in many other games.
