Thread: A refined ID idea...
How about customizable guild crests turned into tatoos? These would be customizable by the guild leader and could be retrieved from the guild terminal by guild members. They retrieve a schematic of sorts from the guild terminal. Then they go to an Image Designer who then tatoos it on a shoulder, chest or back.
The tatoo would of course be automatically removed once you retire from the guild.
This idea could go to many of the crafting professions. There could be paintings with the crest made by architects. There could be emblems available to put on vehicles by master Artisans. There could be applied to clothing by artisans.
Another idea that just came to mind, and perhaps this already came up. I have seen TH talking about temporary tatoos or whatever. How about temporary tatoos that you can add to entertainers to give them healing bonuses? Kind of a buff for the Entertainer. This tatoo would last 3 hours or whatever and would allow them to buff mind stats in a shorter amount of time and heal wounds quicker. Or perhaps the tatoo would allow a dancer to use instruments while dancing which are normally only available to the musicians and in turn allows musicians to dancewhile they play and each would be able to heal wounds at 2x the normal speed.

FYI: That's "particle effects" not "tattoos" that TH was talking about being temporary.
Tsk-Tsk Voor. GCW tattoos were brought up and it was considered to make them temporary if implemented. Go read again.

OK I read his post again and still see nothing about tattoos being temp posted by TH in todays post. I would love to read it, can you point the way?
Here is what I'm reading

On the bright side, we've been able to put a lot of "ID infrastructure" in, so if the particle effects that are in the game turn out well, we will be able to add things like this for the future. In any event, what I would expect is more of a temporary thing (which is actually better for IDs in the long run anyway). That is to say, get a particle effect from an ID, go play with it for a few hours and then *poof* and if you want another, then you will have to go visit an ID and get another one

These sorts of Tattoos have been a long standing request. I've been working with Ood and Runsesabre. Its actually a very big technical challenge to add a tatoo image to an individually customized player avatar, but we're wanting to add that in a publish in the not tooo distant future.
Guild tatoos probably wouldn't be a bad idea, but I'm not sure of how they would do them. The designs would have to be very restrictive! I know some of the guilds on my server and I am pretty certain that they would try to have an obscene guild crest. I really wouldn't want to see what they would come up with. Some of the people are very creative at being crude.
I never said it was TH who mentioned temporaries, but as it's too late in my day to argue with anyone I'm gonna 'temporarily' admit defeat. You have not seen the last of the Charinator. I'll be back.

On your first idea, I would suggest lobbying it with Jascentia on the Player Association Forum (off of the Professions index for some reason). It sounds like it could spread over to other professions other than Image Design, and has certainly come up often enough in the past to warrant bringing up to the devs (that is the idea of having guild emblems). At the very least something like Daoc's system woudl be nice wehre there are pre determined emblems and colors to choose from
I could go for predetermined crests, but there are hundreds of PAs on every server. You would need a lot of them. Perhaps make about 50 different pieces and allow guilds to put them together as a customization. Then once a format has been taken by a guild, it is no longer available? This would help with lag. If the emblem is fully customizable, that would be a lot of little different graphics sitting in front of the coronet starport. But then again, if it was fully customizable, there is always the /report option if someone puts something obscene. My only concern with pre-determined either fully pieced crests or sectional customization crests is whether you would have enough designs to cover the many guilds on each server. I know I would not want to create a guild crest and find out later that it is the same crest as an enemy guild.

As a Master Musician and Master Entertainer I figured this might be a good thread to chime in on. 8-) I loved the ideas you have about the tatoos, especially as they deal with the other entertainment classes. However, I would suggest that if the tatoos were given some sort of enhancement power to entertaining, they should not enhance either healing or decrease the time it takes to buff--there are already items that allow this (skill tapes, foods, bio enhancements, etc. which are relatively inexpensive and easily available). Instead, if enhancements were added, I would like to see it increase the buff percentage and/or time. As it stands, we are only able to buff people up to two times their original stats unless we purchace some really high-ticket items.
Of course, if temporary tatoos did not help in this way, I would still go for one of the permanent ones. 8-) I look forward to seeing what comes of this.
