SOE provides these Forums as a service to its subscribers, to provide a friendly, positive family-oriented environment, where members can help each other and exchange ideas, tips, information, and techniques related to the game. Like any community, these Forums are most valuable when everyone obeys certain basic guidelines and rules for online behavior. These guidelines and rules are presented here so that you know what is expected of you and what you can expect from others. Please help keep the SOE Forums a clean and friendly community. And, above all else, have fun!
Rule 2: Be Friendly and Courteous Everyone wants to have a positive experience while on the Forums - please make sure that you contribute to it. Please do not post anything harassing, threatening, abusive, lewd, or inflammatory. Flaming people, products, or organizations is never acceptable. Neither is trolling. Instead, be friendly, helpful, and supportive.
By registering, and by posting in this community, you agree to these Usage Guidelines.
1.4 Participation in antisocial, disruptive, or destructive acts. This includes but is not limited to, "flaming", "spamming", and "trolling". "Flaming" is defined as: Making insulting criticisms or remarks to incite anger. "Spamming" is defined as: Sending numerous and or unwanted and disruptive amounts of messages. "Trolling" is defined as: Stirring up trouble to incite disruption. An example of trolling would be posting to a thread without the intent to provide positive suggestions or comments and instead making negative and or disruptive comments.
Part ofmy job description is to try to foster a positive environment in my forum.Generally we havevery positive, friendly discussions, but occasionally a thread degenerates tonegativity, mean spirited sarcasm,and/or name calling. We are all often quick to cheer on those whowe agree with, even if they are technically contributing to the negativity (I'm guilty of this myself). If I see a thread that is not constructive but rather destructive to our feeling of goodwill and community, I personally feel it's healthier for us to justagree to disagree and let the thread die, than to call in a moderator to delete posts and/or lock a thread. Obviously if things arereally really bad the best option is tohit the "report abuse to a moderator" button right away.
I've always felt that our forum had a happy family kind of feeling to it. We're a small community and have had a lot of fun and interesting discussions over the months. If something we don't agree with is said (and I think everyone that posts here regularly has said something I disagreed with at least once :smileyvery-happy

, we should definitely voice our opinion, but with theforum guidelines and health of the community in mind. And if things get out of hand, or someone posts something that seems tohave beencrafted to incite a negative reaction, consider ignoring it. Ignored posts drop out of sight quickly and send a clear message to the poster that noone istaking the bait. A couple of extreme examples are those posts that crop up now and then saying something like "ID'ers hate hologrinders" or "ID sucks, go play with your Barbies".
Remember everyone is encouraged to notify a moderator if they see something that they feel violates the forum guidelines. Click on the text that says "Options", which appears to the right of every post, and click on Report Abuse to Moderator. There is a little comments section if you want to give details.
On the other hand it is just as important to encourage each other'spositive/creative posts (very few of us seem to five star posts, that's the fastest way to say you like a post's tone or content if you don't have time to post), and to help those asking for help politely - even if they are hologrinders

We all need encouragement and a positive environment to thrive

I hope this forum continues to be a fun, friendly place to be for a good long time

Any (constructive) comments?
