Thread: So I was thinking about stat migration.........
Hmmmm....well, first, there are IDs on Wanderhome. See the thread up top about Finding and ID in your Galaxy.
Secondly, if you don't like what an ID is charging for stat migration, ask if she/he will bargain with you. And be nice about it. We didn't ask for being solely responsible for stat migration, so I would dare say most of us don't have any genuine desire to do it. I charge 25k (which I think is very fair) because it costs me 10 minutes of my time just twiddling my thumbs and it's boring as hell....unless the client is entertaining. And frankly, though this may not apply to you, most folks asking for stat migration have ZERO desire to talk to their friendly ID who is patiently using their time to NOT do what they love doing. I have quickly started passing off SM customers for the simple fact that it's not what I became an ID to do.
And yes, some IDs are joining together to keep a common pricing system so no one's giving away the cow for free and so they don't get berated and abused by other players who don't want to pay for services. I can hardly blame them. Doesn't always work, but hey, we try to keep from getting ripped off. We provide a service that, simply put, we deserve to be paid for!

Wait amoment they have alreayd implemeneted this?
I just did some stat migration today on wanderhome without an ID, I was just saying what they should do.
The way it works now is that you set it like normal, but it won't change like it used to. You need to ask an ID to have it actually change now, so get ready to fork over the big bucks or start bargaining. lol

I have looked over the ID thread a lot this morning, because I've been thinking of migrating my stats as I started a combat profession just after the patch was put in. While there have been a lot of arguements about pricing - which are only natural because some people are going to feel that they deserve higher amounts of credits for not being able to do anything elseand other are going to feel that they shouldn't pay that much because there are no hard item costs for ID, nothing is going to change the fact that both sides exist - this is the first post I have seen the situation stated like this.
On top of it being the first post even mentioning it that I've seen (and admittably, I am going through the forum still), why not simply ask to have the whole situation changed by the development team? Ask that yes, IDs can migrate stats in about 10 minutes, but have an option that doesn't involve going to an ID - like a player can migrate points from ONE stat into ONE other stat over the course of 24 - 72 hours? The IDs will still see a lot of business from stat migration, because a lot of times when people stat migrate it's going to be a lot more than a couple stats and split between quite a few more in the end; someone - grinding or serious about the combat profession - isn't going to wait the week to several weeks to migrate their stats if they need to move more than one or two. That would still make the ID valuable for stat migration, but it's not forcing IDs to be the sole SM option in the game.
As much as a lot of the good and nice IDs don't like doing SM and even pass it off to others, there will be some people who would complain that not having sole rights to SM will cause them to take a pay cut. But I think in the long run it will make people happy as there is at least an alternative - even if they chose not to take that several week migration option, it's there to make them feel like they aren't 100% completely forced to go to an ID and and ID doesn't have to deal with sitting for 10 minutes when a person only wants to migrate ONE stat (which of course might end up making an unhappy customer if one stat were involved and they still were charged 20k, which may or may not happen to someone).
Nother alternate, though I'm not quite sure if it is already possible, is to make it so an ID can start a stat migration on someone but they can still do change other ID items while the 10 minutes are ticking. For example, in my case, an ID starts the SM I need, but then we can work on skin colour, eye colour and hairstyle options I've been thinking about doing as well but we can't actually confirm/accept them until after the SM finishes. From the way I'm reading things here, it sounds like once an ID starts, you can't eve do something to that person (correct me if I am wrong); even people who came in for just SM might enjoy playing around with other things.
Something else that might make people a tiny more polite about the pricing is throw in a limited holo-emote - honestly, I think the ones that do more than one emote are worth more than one that does a single emote. If the ID doing my SM threw in a one type holo-emote they thought fit with my character/profession, I would see it as a way to personalize a bad experience, and remember who they were. Maybe development could take something like that a step further and allow an ID to limit the number of charges in the Holo-emote to say 5 so they aren't as impressive as the big 20 use multi-option ones.
I keep trying to imagine what my reaction would have been if I asked the sweet Twi'lek ID who did my hair and height, etc to do a SM and she said 20k - 50k (and it's the way it sounds where she couldn't even do other work on me while we waited) in addition to the other work done (though I can't claim she wouldn't work the price because she did other work). While I may have thought it outrages, more than likely I would have just declined and worked harder on keeping agro on my pets; a lot of people having knee-jerk reactions aren't going to think about haggling the price, especially if they research out of game and see the same prices on every website they go to.
I'm just tossing out ideas because the level of fightings on and off the boards isn't needed; it's only frustrating the IDs and the players who may not see eye to eye with them.
There are several ID's on Wanderhome.
Chinatown, on Lok, is owned by one of the more famous Image Designers, and the oldest still on the server I believe, Miss China.
And there is already and agreement for price fixing in place on Wanderhome.. the problem is that Grinding to Novice Image Designer is not very hard, and Stat Mitigation only requires a Novice Image Designer.
How about self-Stat Mitigating is allowed, but very slow, like healing Battle Fatigue in an empty cantina slow andyou have to crowd into one of the five ID tents in the world?

How do you go from Bounty Hunter to Image Designer?
